What was the temperature gage reading while the jeep was smoking? Did you check the oil on the dipstick when you shut it off? If so, was the color of the oil normal or was it a grey to white color, indicating water in the oil? Had the jeep been setting up for awhile? What color was the smoke?

Hello,
Are you sure this is rust and not oil? Head gaskets can leak one way or the other or not both. Hoping you did not just buy a vehicle with a head gasket leak. Check your oil level and the color of it. Chocolate milk looking oil is a sure sigh of a one form of a head gasket leak. If your oil is low add some and pay attention to if it gets low for no apparent reason. If you truly just have a bit of rust in your antifreeze then perform, or have an anti freeze flush performed. But this alone will not make it smoke.
Regards, Tony

Where is the pcv valve in a 1991 jeep wrangler 4 cylinder

where is it, on a 2.5L I4 jeep. 1991. ok. first ever post with engine size.
bravo that. amazing....
the FSM covers this. factory service manual;,.
ok, i see you are reading books or web sites that have generic tuneup information, not relate to real jeeps, yes?
or bob with a toyota told me to change it out? yes?

Guess what?, there IS NONE.
it only has and ORIFICE.
and sure it can clog, and does, in fact i drove for 500,000 miles
in 3 jeeps. and cleaned it vast times.
on one car , the grommet got old and it the orifice collapsed.
and i had to buy a new one from jeep.
see word FIXED below.?
when it clogges, the engine leaks oil
and the oil pukes (backups) and dumps oil on the air cleaner.
there is no PCV valve, on this engine. but that dont mean its service free.

Air temp and humidity level can change mpg calculation two tenths. BUT, that does not account for the huge disparity in your numbers. You may have something wrong with the trip calculator or, there may be a leak somewhere. Have your codes scanned. MPG can drop suddenly if an O2 sensor fails.

Spray some starting fluid into the throttle body. If it starts then you have a fuel problem. If it does not, then check to see if you have spark to the plugs.

1991 jeep wrangler sahara shifting promblems

Your clutch is not disengaging. If it a hydrolic clutch chk. the fluid in resavor, Or slave cyl. for the clutch is bad, Or it has got air in it and needs to be bleed. This is a clutch problem, nothing wrong with trans. If its a manual clutch linkage its an ajustment thing. My best guess if its hydrolic slave cyl. went bad, or resavor is out of fluid.

I'm sorry, but I'm a bit confused regarding your statement where you said, "I drove it without a air filter for 4 days the put in a new one but it still wont start." Please clarify. Thank you, jetski224
