The shift knob is part of the shifter handle. The overdrive shift button assembly and button cover are replacable seperately. To remove the button, simply pry off the cover, pull out the button and replace. reverse the order to assemble.

To remove the shift handle, remove the ignition cylinder by turning to the run position and pushing a small pin, drill bit or allen wrench into the hole on the bottom of the trim cover hole to release the ignition cylinder. Pull the cylinder out. Next remove the screws from the bottom column trim cover and remove the upper trim. Next, remove the pin from the shifter and disconnect the electrical connector. Replace the shifter and reassemble. Good luck, please ask for more information if you can't leave four thumbs up. Have a great day!

Check the #15 fuse in fusebox behind marked panel on left lower dash just below and left of steering column. This is only a 5 amp fuse but it controls a lot. This fixed our 2001 Expedition. 25 cents.

2000 expedition want go in drive but will go in reverse

Need much more detail; however, there is a frequency with this truck to have the set screws loosen for the shift indicator. I had this problem and realigned then tightened. Shifts like new afterwards. There are several videos on Youtube. If its not this then I'd suggest adjusting your shifting cable (cable that runs under dash from steering column to transmission).

2000 expedition transmission just rebuild but wont shift fron 1st gear

Hi James, The gear changes on modern vehicles is often controlled by speed sensors mounted onto each wheel. The sensors also control the ABS, traction control and activate the speedo. Have a diagnostic scan carried out and determine if the sensors are all in working condition. Regards John
