I would check the alternator again, it apparently isn't charging the battery with engine running. You need a volt meter or amp meter to test this. Also does the battery discharge when the car is not running?

Jump started 92 ford tempo after it over heated. It ran for a few minutes started overheating again i turned the car off and now it has no power at all wont turn over ,no dash lights, headlights ,nothing

The steam and antifreeze probabley shorted out you alternator. This will completely drain the battery. Disconnect power from alternator. here is a wire that goes to the back of the alternator that needs to be removed. It has a red boot over it. There is also a clip plug in the back or side of the alternator that you release and pull out. After disconnecting alternator, charge battery and check to see if you get power. If so replce the alternator and make repairs to stop overheat condition.

91 Ford Tempo gls manual transmission battery keeps draining the machanics say its not the alternator has replaced battery 2x have a radio/cd player in it. I take the face off and a light keeps flashing...

you need a draw test done on the car to start to diagnois the problem.it can take a few days to find the problem and should be done by a tech that knows how to check for electrical draws as its not an easy job to do and if you don`t know how to do this you may not find the problem or may jump to the wrong conclusion.

1990 ford tempo starts but will die after about 10 minutes. the power from the battery is drained and we just bought a brand new battery for it.

Try to start again, then when the engine is start, remove the negative or positive battery cable, and if the engine die, the alternator is failed., and if not dying, alternator still good. But for me the way you said, I'm 100% your alternator is died. Need to replace a new one. And if you know how to solder, just remove and replace the brusses( carbon) by soldering. ok

92 Mazda Club cab will not start.

DEFINITELY it has an electric issue since it runs with a jump battery, have the alt checked again and the charge regulator also. Good luck

'92 Ford Tempo won't start.

You still have two components that need checking...perhaps you have a bad battery cable?! They do corrode inside sometimes making the battery hard pressed to send the current needed to run the starter. You may get enough amps and volts to run the lights but not enough for the starter.

You can try jumping the starter with jumper cables just to see if the works. You can leave the car in park and key off since the only thing you want to do is turn the starter.
