Same thing happened to my drivers side. I have a 1999 Ford Explorer XLT. Mechanic found a broken wire in the wiring boot that runs from the door to the body. Spliced wire back together. Fixed the problem.

what wire was broken ,how do you check this, bruce

  • Anonymous Jul 14, 2011

nnnjk45. I checked with my bother about your problem. He is a senior master tech with Ford. He says, first, look in the wiring boot that covers the wires that run from the drivers door to the body and look for a broken wire. You can pull the boot back and actually push it inside the door to get it out of your way if you find broken wire. If no broken wires, go to the switch in the door that locks all the windows. All the window switches operate from that main switch. If you have a volt meter, check out the switch. If you don't have a meter or do not know how to use one, it might be time to take it to a shop or buy the switch from a Ford dealershp and hope for the best. Hope this gets you on the right path. 1999 Ford Explorer no power windows, dome lights, blower motor don't work and wipers work when they want

Hello. It seems your Ford has a faulty master switch in the door panels (for the windows), a faulty door jamb switches (for the dome light), a malfunctioning multifunction switch (for the turn signal/windshield wipers). Good luck and keep me informed; if you want to.

2003 ford explorer windows stopped working

Are ALL your windows disabled? Nothing works?
Okay,I don't have an Explorer manual, but check for a large fuse out in the engine compartment that might say it's for door locks.
The reference for the fuse location is usuall in the cover of the fusebox.
Relays (little squarish boxes in the same fusebox) can also go bad,or shake loose.
I HOPE the problem is not the control module.don-ohio (:^)

Cant find fuse for power windows?

According with the Explorer Owner Guide, I suggest...
1. Check for power on the Light Blue/Black (LB/BK) wire at the master window switch.
2. Check for a good ground to the master window switch on the Black (BK) wire. This wire provides the ground circuit for all of the window motors.

If both of these are good you probably have a bad master switch(drivers master switch).

The Light Blue/Black (LB/BK) wire gets its power supply from the accessory delay relay in the Central Junction Box (CJB) located under the instrument panel. The Generic Electronic Module (GEM) controls activation of the accessory delay relay. Fuse 2.17 is a 15 amp fuse in the CJB which supplies power to the relay. Fuse F1.6 is a 60 amp fuse in Battery Junction Box (BJB) which also supplies power to the accessory delay relay. G400(ground) is located at the driver side rear of the vehicle near the tail light assembly. This connection provides a ground for the master window switch (click image for zoom).

Hope helps.

All 4 of my power windows stopped working, and i can't find anything about a power window fuse in my manual

Power window usually don't have a fuse but an automatically resetting breaker. If all four windows stopped working at the same time check the body control module that is what manages the power windows. Good luck.

Need to replace fuse for the power windows... do not know which fuse port is for the power windows and I have no manual to assist me... does anyone know which fuse port holds the fuse to the power windows...

the power windows are controlled through the Body Control Module. this module controls the windows through a circuit breaker under the hood in the relay and fuse box located near the master cylinder, it is
Position #62 30A CB Power windows circuit breaker, I really doubt this is the problem, but check it, if u have a short circuit the circuit breaker will be hot to the touch.
