2000 tacoma dash brake light stays on all the time . 2000 toyota tacoma 4X4 2.7 4 cyl.

Go under the dash and disconnect the brake light switch then unscrew the plastic nut that retains it to the pedal bracket. See picture below, the nut is brown in the picture of the switch.

I'd say you have a short in one of the rear light clusters, or possibly somebody wired a trailer socket wrong. Your dash lights are back-feeding from the rear brake light.

faulty sensor or wiring to/from transmission try to trace the wiring from the trans and disconnect if light goes off the wires are ok and the sensor is the problem and needs changing

Thats why you replace one at a time. The coil should be laid out in order, 1 2 3 4

check the bulbs or the sockets for damage
or the wrong bulb
you are getting feedback through the wiring
and that lights up the dash

at the bottom of the dash on the drivers side,

Please have it checked. Could be a master cyl. problem, or if you have ABS, could be a problem there.

Check the brake light switch, the button on it may be stuck in.
It's under the dash, near the top and back side of the brake pedal.
