I have a 1999 lincoln navigator, the rear of my truck looks like it is sitting on my tires, I replaced the rear shocks (because I figured they were old which they were) and this did not alleviate the problem. The compressor still comes on from time to time as it always have and there is no 'check suspension' light on. I need help.. does this mean the rear air suspension has gone bad?! What is going on?

ever look under it to see what raises it plastic tubing breaks air shocks leak off then of course the pump might have failed go see a local dealer or mechanic locally
are you looking to replace them because the truck doesn't sit right look on all 4 corners on control arms there is a height sensor the rods pop off all the time and throw the height off in other corners and ends
I was sitting at a stoplight. The other day in my rear airbags went out and now they won't fill back up with air. Does anybody know what the problem could be the airbags don't look dry rotted, or look like they have a hole in them
don live in the real world, that suspension is never going to work right again. you are going to spend a ton of money, and no matter what you do something else will go wrong. big mercs, lincolns, BMW, caddies, land rovers, etc all sit in the same saggy swamp. there are still thousands of collapsed Peugeots sitting in barns since the 1970s across the land waiting for a real suspension fix.
take a long look at www.strutmasters.com and consider junking the air or hydraulic suspension system and trading up to a real one with springs and shocks.
your truck comes with suspension airbag for a smooth right..all lincoln naviagator come with it..if your take it the shop and they forget to disable that before they lift it up..most likely they blown the airbag for your suspension...those air suspension are rear spring for your truck
you could try replacing the shock absorbers, use a stiffer/firmer shock. ( check out "bilstein" shocks). inspect the sway bars, look at the rubber mounts, make sure they are still in good condition. Or maybe install a aftermarket sway bar. also see if you can adjust the ride height of the suspension. I can adjust the ride height on my 89 Mark VII. up or down.
Hopefully just needs to be reset, those air susp r expensive. Some susp come with a switch to turn on and off could be on the left or right rear back look for it turn off then on if that does not work, disconnect p bat terminal for 5 min then reconnect. Listen for suspension should make some noise.
