you can but in some areas its illegal to drive them with defective device. make sure the hole bag etc is out and unplug the wire from the deployer before driving.

2005 Towncar SRS Code 33 (3 flash + 3 flash, repeat this set for twice. then Beep 5 times pause x 5 = 25 beeps every 30min).

This means you have problem with left (Driver) side pretentioner (Seat belt retract system).
It doesn't mean physical belt or retract mechanism.It is just bomb wiring which is part of airbag system.
When airbag deploy, passenger must stay tight in seat otherwise body lean to front then slam back to seat by airbag.
if belt is loose or delay to lock, passenger's body rocks back and forth.So, system use small bomb (Fire power) to lock and retract seat belt when airbag deploy.There is small bomb and igniter in part of Seat belt retractor.
Code 33 is warning for this part on 2005 Towncar.(older model is different meaning in Ford/Lincoln, it's possibly passenger side airbag system for earlier model)
Before you work for any part of Airbag system and touch any "Yellow connector", * *Disconnect battery (negative side is good enough) and wait at least 5 min to clear all power in system**.(Airbag store back up power for few minutes to be able to deploy even in case if power disconnected)
by the way, you should move your driver seat most forwarded position before you disconnect battery to make it easy to work with seat belt.
locate driver side seat belt retractor (in center pillar between front and rear door, you may have to fight with weather strip)

Locate Yellow connector on bottom of Seat belt retractor (it's called "Pretensioner")it is located on very bottom of rear side of retractor.
only one yellow connector. (make sure your battery is disconnected)
Check its physical connection or looseness.if connection looks fine, you may have to replace whole seat belt ($180-$200 in Lincoln dealer)
You can check if pretensionor is good or bad by regular tester, but unless you know how, I won't tell (because I don't wan't you to blow out pretentionor).

We cut the white wire on my son's 2005 ION and followed a youtube video. He said to remove the airbag fuse first. After we cut the wire and put the airbag fuse in, now the airbag light is on. I can't get it fixed for beans. So now he has a security light and airbag light on. He has been in several accidents and the airbags never came out anyway so I guess he will have to drive that way. It did start last night no problem in 30 degree temperature!

the airbag light comes on when the car is started, then it goes out if the system passes its self test. if it does not go off within a few seconds, then your airbag will not deploy in an accident and you should get to a GM dealer and have the system serviced. any GM dealer will be able to check and fix it for you, saturn was GM.

In the 2005 ION there is a fuse panel on the driver's side inside the center console under the air conditioning controls. A black plastic fastener turns to remove the cover right above the floor. It should be in there. If not, the only other panel is under the hood behind the PCM on the driver side of the compartment. There is another removable cover just opposite the driver side cover but I don't recall there being any fuses on that side of the console.

sounds like some loose conectors remove the columb cover
there are 2 - 4 screws on the botom of it they are usually star or philips screws cover should fall off or may requier a tug check the wiring conectors top and botom just lift top cover up it will flex remember to keep the ignition turned off

no, the pre tensioner goes bad(I say your probably have over 100,000 miles on this car), and it is a problem with dodge caravans, plymouth voyagers. You need to check the chrysler web site for recalls on caravans. this may have been on there,

The computer will not let the car start until the air bag circuit has been maintenanced.
