Sounds like you might have a fuel pressure regulator going bad.Check for fuel in the map sensor and also check for fuel laying in the air intake tube that is connected to the throttle body.If you have fuel in either of these then your fuel pressure regulator is bad.If you want to test the regulator pinch off the return line if the fuel pressure does'nt rise then its bad.

I'm smelling gas fumes inside the car when I'm idling but as soon as I accelerate it goes away

Gas smells come from leaks or the engine running too rich ( over fueled ). You need to inspect for any wetness/dampness around the fuel lines/rail and injectors if the smell appears from under the hood. If the engine is over fueled, a scan test can be performed to find out why. Sometimes oil leaks on/around the exhaust system can also give a fuel type smell. Have the vehicle checked for this also.

Why do i smell gas when car is parked and there are no leaks?

there is a leak somewhere or you would not smell gas. make sure your gas cap is sealing when you screw it on.

After hot engine wont start and smells like gas

Most likely causes are bad engine coolant temp sensor OR leaking fuel injectors. Bad engine coolant temp sensor will give computer false reading and computer provides wrong air fuel mixture. Leaking fuel injectors will load the engine with raw gas--just like flooding it. Try pushing the gas pedal to the floor and holding it there when cranking when hot. That forces the computer into "clear flood" mode and it shuts off the injectors. If it starts up with pedal down, that would be a sign of leaking injectors.

Be sure you have inspected the gas tank for any small leaks...the smell and drip will vary by the tanks fill level...Hope this helps.

Turns over well but is slow to fire off sometime. Can smell gas fumes inside the car as well as the outside. No black smoke from ehaust and no fuel leaks.

if you smell gas YOU DO have a fuel leak.... make sure your gas cap is good and or tight, also might want to look at your fuel pressure regulator.. the fuel system is pretty simple... let me know!

Gasoline Smell as soon as car is turned off. No Air Conditioner.

not much to go off here, but i would think if you are always smelling the gas after you shut it off and it is not someone around you, then yes, you have a leak. This leak could be the gas cap even. Sometimes o-rings on the fuel rail can go bad causing it to drain off the excess gas when shut off. but you would notice really bad gas milage. I hope this helps as your description was pretty vague.

Gas Smell 99 Pontiac Grand Am

if no leaks in lines, a bad or leaking fuel regulator can cause hard starting, poor fuel economy, stalling, check engine light, gas smell from under hood.

Gas smell outside of car. unable to see any leaks, car runs fine

Hows your gas milage or do you have any check engine lights come on?Usually if theres no leakage signs its an indication of the evap system leaking. That is recycling of the gas fumes. Its a vacuum system that is now manditory on cars.Thats usually rhe answer when theres no leaking happening. After driving awile open your gas cap,see if you get a vacuum sound when you open it.
