Suspect you have a loose clamp on a radiator hose or the oil change guy made something leak. There is a tool which is similar to a a bicycle pump in that it pressurizes the water system and your engine does not have to run or be hot to test. Some major auto parts stores may have a loaner.

Its going to stay hot and lose pressure until you fix the leak.

SOURCE: 96 honda civic ex runs hot

It is either a blown head gasket or a cracked head. Depending on which motor your civic has, this could be a tricky replacement, either way, you have to remove the head off of the motor, and then take the head to have it pressure checked to see if there is a crack in it. Nine times out of ten though, you can see a crack in the head with your eye, but you have to have the right "eye" to be able to see the crack.

SOURCE: 2.3l ranger keeps overheating, been through two radiators already.

Hello Ranger Joe, eight months and two radiators is very uncommon. Question, Have you visually confirmed the leak in the radiators or is the leak near the hose connections? Replacing the radiator, cap, water pump, & the thermostat leaves only two others, the hoses and the engine block/heads. Far fitched will be something or somebody poking holes in the radiator.

SOURCE: Overheating

there is a coolant cap on the overflow bottle check it for seal
i'd just replace it
also if you put the new thermostat in backward the overheating would be significant

SOURCE: smells like burn after you turn the car off when

Inspect the manifold gasket. You may have a small leak and the oil is burning off on the manifold. On short trips, the leak may not be evident, therefore no oil is being leaked onto the manifold.

Car run hot what is the problem

First thing to check is probably a stuck thermostat. Then the water pump. Head leak. The price and ease of most thermostats is usually replaced first, then further troubleshooting if needed.

I have an 02 Lincoln Ls, if I sit and let it run for over 30 minutes it will begin to overheat and it has just been a guessing game to try to fix. I have had the thermostat replaced, replaced the switch on...

If it only does it when idling then try rad cap. Also drain and refill with front end jacked a little.sounds like cap or air lock. I had a ranger do this but when it got hot I putt peddle to the floor and help it.

There is an Auxilary Coolant Pump, you can
check out, below the coolant control valve,
against the radiator near the bottom, on passenger side

Wouldn't a repair shop have figured out the problem ?

Lincoln LS 2000 keeps over heating. Changed thermostat. Still overheating!

Could be several things - you will need to figure out if the cooling system is working or if the engine is producing extra heat such as with a restricted exhaust.
Check the radiator fan and the water pump.

Lincoln ls car is still running hot after changing thermostat

First when car is running hot stop and pop the hood check and see if the electric cooling fans are running. Second have your radiator cap checked, replace if bad. If neither or these are the issue, with the engine cold start it up and remove the radiator cap. It will take a couple minutes for the engine to warm up enough to open the thermostat. After it gets warm enough that your thermostat opens, (5 to 10 minutes) you should see the fluid in the radiator start to circulate. If this doesn't happen your water pump is out and needs to be replaced. Back to the first thing if your fans aren't kicking on check all your fuses in your engine compartment first. If you narrow down the problem to one of these and need more assistance, just reply to this comment and I will help you further.
