2003 galant serpentine belt replacement

My daughter just bought a 03 galant, had it for 10 days and calls me to tell me it just died and won't do anything when she turns the key. I had her lift the hood and sure enough no alternator belt, how hard is it to replace? Do I need a jack for the engine? Any help is appreciated

Pick up a belt at you local auto parts store you wont need a jack just a couple of metric wrenches and a rachet. under the hood will be the routing for the belt . follow it exactly. make sure all the pulleys spin . they all will except the crank. if any other one doesnt spin you found the reason the belt broke. let me know if you cant find the diagram ill send it to ya.
hope this helps

I got a new serpentine belt and now my car wont shift into gears... why is that? why would my transmission slip like that after i just bought a brand new belt

  • The replacement of the serpentine belt won't have any effect on the transmission. It will effect the ability of the engine to function properly if you happened to put the belt on wrong. Check the diagram below and double check your routing of the belt. If your belt is on properly AND it is the proper size and you think your transmission is slipping you want to check your transmission fluid level and perhaps consider servicing the transmission filter for starters.

Need to replace serpentine belt but timing belt is blocking my way. How do I remove timing belt?

serpentine belt comes first and then timing belt which is inside the motor.I think you have got the name of your belts the other way around.

My serpentine belt broke, and when I went to call about a replacement, they said they have two different belts depending on the series or style. How do I know what I have?

well basicly they want to know if you have a/c or not, because no ac is a shorter belt. also tell them year, model, engine size, and if its a LS or what! good-day !

I recently bought a 2nd hand 2003 galant 2.0, after my mechanic replaced the timing belt, the engine won't start. There was no spark on the cables. What's wrong? Please help.

It is imperative to have a very experienced mechanic performs a timing belt service!! If not done correctly on this vehicle, severe engine damage may occur. I would recommend checking the cam position sensor, this controls spark!! If damaged or disconnected, you will experience a "NO START" condition!!

Have a 2000 mitsubishi galant, had to remove battery to work on the car, stereo asked for a code, we do not have the code as my daughter just bought the car, what do we do

Call a mitsubishi dealer and have your VIN ready and tell then the story. They will have the code to reset the radio.
