I have a 2001 v6 Jeep Grand cherokee and the radiator fan does not come on. I have read that it may be the relay. If this a job I can do or should I take it to a garage? How much should I pay to get this repaired?

The relays and fuses are located under the hood on your vehicle, there is 2 boxs, and they both have covers, snap the covers off, and you will be able to see fuses and relays, inside of the covers shows a diagram of what they are and where they are located, and yes , if it is the fan relay, you can replace it yourself, just pull the relay out and put the new one in.

Radiater fan stays on

Rad fan is triggered by a thermo switch via a relay. Find a relay in the fuze box marked for the fan , pull it,and see if the fan stops. If it does my guess is the contacts in the relay are stuck closed and running the fan.
Replace.

Whats causes P1491 code on my 2001 jeep grand cherokee laredo v6?

This may sound strange, but I have seen this code many times. Check all fusesin the power distribution center under the hood. I bet you find a blown fuse...ALSO check your relay. It is probably bad too."Radiator Fan Ctrl Relay Circ" Maybe the computer thinks the fan's misbehaving, so it backs off the power? Hope this helps, James Booth

Radiator fan stays on after long hot drive.

Check your relay. I believe one of the terminal connections is an always hot connection. If your relay has gotten stuck in the on position, it will cause your fans to remain on.
