I am trying to replace the fuel pump relay on my 1991 f150. I have found it OK, but it is encased by a black half sheath. There is the one bolt, obvious right? Yet, it turns and turns, and I cannot find a nut to hold in the cab. I cannot remove the old relay until I remove the sheathing. Looks like there is a bigger fuse or relay underneath that one as well, both under the same sheath. Please help! I don't want to make a small problem bigger... I thankyou. Mattheau

SOURCE: E.E.C fuse keeps blowing in 1991 Ford Explorer

if you replaced fuel pump i would look at backward wiring when replaced and i would start at the source of work if your vehicle was working fine before replacement then 9 out of 10 it will be your fuel pump wireing

sometimes when putting wireing back together the connectors have the missing clip and in turn you can turn the wireing in both directions now where positive is touching the ground on both sides of connector kris kross problem check your work this is crucial use a test light to find the right wires where they go

SOURCE: 1996 windstar relay

The fuel pump power on the Windstar is controlled by a component called a Constant Control Relay Module (CCRM).
Its located located on the driver's side of the engine compartment.d7fb0ae.jpg

SOURCE: I don't here the fuel pump ever kick on in my 1990 Ford F150, and I tested all of the fuses and they are good. I was thinking the relay for the fuel pump might be bad -- any suggestions?

It's under your hood, in one of those boxes, and should be marked. Your pump won't cut in if it's fried either. Check to see if there is power at the pump. Maybe you just have a loose wire. You can always hope!

SOURCE: 1997 Ford F150 Electric Fuel Pump will npt pump

Did you check the fuel inertia switch in the passenger side kick panel ?

The fuel pump is powered :
the fuse to the fuel pump relay.
The fuel pump relay to the fuel inertia switch
The fuel inertia switch to the fuel pump itself.

At the fuel inertia switch in the kick panel, power from the relay is the Dark Green w/ Yellow stripe wire and the pink w/ black stripe wire is the power. from the fuel inertia switch to the fuel pump.

If you jumper the fuel pump relay, you should hear it run. If not pull the fuel pump relay, and check the pins in the relay socket, pin 30 should be the power from the fuse.

If you have power at pin #30, jumper the relay socket as shown with the red line above, and check the dark green w/ yellow stripe wire at the fuel inertia switch for power.
Press the button on the top of the fuel inertia switch, and check for power leaving the fuel inertia switch on the pink w/ black stripe wire.

This is tests good, check for power at the fuel pump, same pink w/ black stripe wire.
Fuel inertia switch info is in the owners manual, If you did not get an owners manual with your truck ( purchased used ), you can download one from Ford :

Where is the fuel pump relay location on an f150, 2005 truck 4x4

The fuel pump relay is located in the fuel tank. To access it, open the fuel tank, remove all the snap rings on the top of tank. To replace just pull out the old fuel pump assembly and install the new one.

Your ford should have a schrader valve in the fuel rail for testing fuel pressure. You shouldn't need to remove a fuel line. On the left inner fender there are two, maybe three relays, usually encased insome type of enclosure. The relay with the green plug is the fuel pump relay, the relay with the brown plug is the EEC relay. Unplug both of these relays and inspect for corrosion, broken pins, and corrosion. A problem with either relay will cause the fuel pump not to run as the EEC relay controls the fuel pump relay. Corrosion at these connections has been very common at my shop.

I just started to fix up my 1991 f150 lariat, and every time i turn the truck off and walk away it die, when i disconnect the the battery and reconnect it the fuel pump turn on and stays on, some people...

it could be the PCM , but I would check the fuel pump relay first. the relay could be sticking to make the fuel pump run all the time. as far as the dying problem you may want to check the idle air by-pass valve to make sure your idle rpm's are sufficient.

Where is my eec computer located on my 1991 f150 300 straight 6 my fuel pump wont shut off with keys in my pocket. i already replace the ignition switch and fuel pump rely. any suggetions on what it could...

It is in the front seating area, driver side, behind dash, upper corner, mounted on dash with support brackets. I don't think the computer would fix your problem. Does the fuel pump quit running when you remove the relay? It sounds more like a wiring problem, like a wire that should be getting ignition battery, (going to the fuel pump), is getting constant battery. I would check the wiring for the fuel pump relay.
