The car had 2000 miles on the odometer and was driving it when it suddenly stalled and the turned off. Tried starting it again and the dashboard indicators lit up like a christmas tree. There was teh smell of something burning. Went around and as soon as I lifted the hood, a fire erupted at the front end of the engine. Could any one comment on the cause? Were there any recalls on this model due to electrical problems ?

Black (Nero) or Silver (Grigio) needs either the Red Rosso) leather or Light Tan (Avorio) to have the maximum impact, I like Avorio.

There were no recalls for anything resembling this. Generally the engines in these specific cars were bullet proof. I have seen them with upwards of 200k on them. Clutches and F1 systems is at times an issue. Fires out of the blue is not. Sounds like to me someone previously worked on the vehicle and put things back in away they shouldn't have been. I've heard about one other car fire in a 4200 coupe (same type of car as the GS just the earlier model) this was related to the heater core leaking down on the fuse box, passenger side floor board.
