1998 Toyota Camry. The pipe that goes up into the manifold has come off! How do I fix this?

Question edited for clarity and spelling (manafold).
Question moved to category.

I have a Lexus ES330 which is basically the same vehicle.

That pipe is part of the catalytic converter, so an expensive part. If the bolts have just fallen out, that is an easy fix. Just visit a Quick Fit type exhaust place. If they tell you that you need a complete exhaust, tell them to show you and tell you why (or take a man with you).

How do I program a 1998 Toyota Camry remote?

Great news, your 1998 Toyota Camry Key Fob is self programmable. Below are the programming instructions. Be patient, it might take you a few times to get this right. It is all about timing.

Most remotes can be self-programmed. If this procedure does not work, you must have your remote programmed by a professional automotive locksmith or dealership.

Obtain all remote transmitters for this vehicle.
1. Insert key into ignition and turn ignition switch to ON position.

2. Locate the ECU (Engine Control Unit) and press and hold the ECU PROGRAMMING button for 3 seconds. The ECU will be located under one of the front two seats, the trunk, or under the dashboard on the drivers side. You will need a small pointy object like a pen to depress the ECU button. After pressing the ECU button for three seconds, you will see the STATUS MONITOR LED turn on for 5 seconds. Vehicle is now in programming mode.

3. Press and release the top button on the remote. The STATUS MONITOR LED will turn off. A chirp will be heard as well as one flash of the exterior lights.

4. Turn off the ignition. Programming is now complete, test remotes for proper programming.

What is the metric size of a rear bolt for a toyota camry 1996 lower control arm. I lost the bolt and need to replace it.

You could take off the same bolt on the other side's control arm, and match it at a parts or hardware store. Or a salvage yard?
A dreaded trip to the dealership, perhaps? Even bolts have part numbers, but good luck trying to order parts for any 18 year old car from Ford or GM dealerships, probably all of them. Ford and GM particularly irk me when they call their own products "obsolete", and refuse to keep any parts line open to them. That includes cars less than 10 years old, can you imagine? That's why I drive old stuff, and preferably Asian, and preferably Nissan. Toyota got fat and westernized-corporatized- after the initial success and well deserved of the Camry. Often regretted not fixing and keeping my '84 Camry, but time had taken quite a toll- It was about 20 years old then.

Need battery for remote 1998 Camry

If the remote is the type with a small screw in it, the batteries can be sourced at a jewelers, camera shop or pharmacy. If it has no screw in it, and is the single button type, unfortunately they are a sealed remote, and you need to get a new one and code it to the system. They aren't too expensive, around $70. Any Toyota dealership should be able to do this for you, it is a sequence of opening and shutting the drivers door and turning the ignition on and off.

My 1998 toyota canry timing belt broke. Is this an interferance motor? Did It destroy the engine?

no you most likely bent valves on inlet side, pull the head and check for any other damage it all really depends on the rpm when the belt broke. ( rate me thanks )

My 1998 Camry gas pedal sticks in stop and go traffic. Is this part of the recall issue?

Take it into the dealership and have them fix it anyways. You will probably get it done for free, since Toyota is trying to avoid a mass wrongful death lawsuit.

98 camry - driver door handle outside of car broke off. Have to use a rope to pull it up to open door. Where can I find a replacement or how much to fix it?

go to a junk yard to get the part... it'll be $50 to $100 at a dealership, plus about $200 for labour charges...

It isn't that difficult of a job.

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Pull back the weather seal and you'll be able to see the outer door handle, it should be held in place by two bolts, one on either side of the handle...

roughly 30-60mins to fix

Broken spring on the gas fuel tank door on Toyota ''Camry'' 1998

Go to your nearest Toyota dealer. Purchase this part number: 77360-22020; approx 4 dollars.

Open the fuel door. Being careful, remove the leftover plastic that is hooked by the door hinge. Insert the new spring assembly under the slot, and press it in until it clicks into place. Very easy to do.
Hope this helps, and thanks for choosing FixYa.
