If you have adequate tension on the alternator belt and it pops off while the engine is running, the pulley is not aligned properly. You can start by Eyeballing the alignment from pulley to pulley. If one sticks out farther than the other something was not reassembled properly or something is not seated properly. You will need to go over your work. Also once you correct the issue with the belt popping off you will need to inspect the belt. If it was being kicked off while the engine was running, there may be some damage to it. Even if there is slight damage replace it, A small nick out of the side of a belt will cause a weak spot that will break down the road.
Good luck
