Backfiring can be caused by valve timing or lean operation. You engine light is not on?

1997 Nissan Quest Van. Where is the crankshaft sensor location please?

Question edited for clarity and the typos - Nissian, cyclinder, vam, and PO 304 is P-zero not P-letter Oh..
Question moved to model category

What makes you think it is the Crankshaft Sensor? This is a simple misfire on Cylinder 4. Check plug, leads and coil. Run some Injector cleaner.

The P0304 code stands for "Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected", which means your vehicle's cylinder 4 has misfired enough times for your powertrain control module (PCM) to notice. A worn spark plug, a faulty fuel injector, and a leaking valve are some possible causes of the P0304 code.

2005ford escape how do i check the pcm and where is it located on the vehicle,no current on #4 cyclinder

The PCM kills cylinders when misfire malfunctions occur. This is normal operating procedure for an obd2 equipped vehicle. Voltage for both the coils and the injectors in your vehicle come from the fuse box. I hope that this helps.

I got a tune up today on my Yukon which they only replaced 4 wires & all the plugs. the dealership says cyclinders 1&3 where misfiring. my truck runs better but stil vibrates. what could it be?

You should have the dealership replace all of the spark plug wires, not just 4 of them. If the vehicle still vibrates like a misfire you may need to have your timing checked/adjusted. It may also be time for a new fuel filter.

I need to change the head gasket on my 4 cyclinder tacoma it is getting radom miss fires

we usually replace head gaskets when there is an overeating problem or leak problem, if you saw coolant in the spark plugs or if the misfire come with a thick white smoke from the tail pipe, then this is reason enough to do the head gasket job.

for random misfire we got spark plug wires high resistance,
weak coil,
bad fuel,
weak fuel pump.
bad injectors.

Misfire on cyclinder

I would check the fuel injector on number 2 cylinder. If the injecter is dirty or not functioning properly it may give you the symptom of an ignition misfire.
