No it has a closed system so no smell of petrol so their is something wrong with the suction pump and the pipes that come from teh engine compartment

shower time for me soon ,anyway somewhere under the bonnet is a vacumn pipe to a pump on the side area and this has a pipe that then goes to the tank so when engine runs it allows the vapour to be burnt in the engine and the fault is along this line somewhere but without a good look myself i couldnt tell yuo but i suspect that this pipe from the tank is either blocked or trapped somewhere along the line
