SOURCE: Car sputters at start up in wet or damp weather

spray your distributor wires and cap with silicone spray. If this does not work you will have to replace distributor cap as it will have a hair line crack in it.

85 Nissan 720 with Z24 motor when first started it will run great for a short time then fall on its face spits and sputters and u can't keep it running

Naturally aspirated carburetor with automatic choke.

If youre in winter (northern hemisphere) then the choke will set when you depress accelerator for cold start.

After the engine starts it unloads (opens) the choke slightly. As the engine warms it continues to open the choke until fully open.

Likely the choke is not opening as the engine reaches normal operating temperature and fuel mixture us too rich causing poor combustion and black smoke.

Why does my 91 mazda b2200 sputter, knock off, and sometimes wont start back up

Almost no acceleration engine will not top 2K RPM under load.

Have you checked the air inlet sensor on the air filter. If this fails the engine goes into safety mode which it seems has happened. I don't know the specifics of the Santa fe but this is a feature of most modern electronic engine systems.

Engine runs not smoth when steping on accelerator

OK. Most automotive shops will test CHECK ENG LITE for abolutely free. Once you have the code, this may be the cause of your woes. Start there and you will not be guessing.

87 325 runs good when

It's the automatic choke!

The choke is "closed" or barely open... When cold, the engine needs a RICH mixture (more gasoline, less air). When the engine warms up, it requires a LEAN mixture (less gas, more air).

It is probably creating BLACK tailpipe smoke ... that means unburnt gasoline. (Blue smoke is OIL, white smoke is WATER).

Put the parking / emergency brake ON.
1. Remove air cleaner assembly from intake, use a carb cleaner spray or throttle body spray cleaner and spray just a little. (AutoZone $5)
2. Find the accelerator2.gif arm under the hood.
3. start car, rev the engine to make sure how to operate the accelerator from under the hood.
4. Carefully spray into carb / throttle body and work the accelerator ... don't let the engine die...
5. Watch out for "backfire"... it may create a small flame out of the carb. It will extinguish itself in one second.

6. You may need to do this two, three times.
7. Add a "complete fuel system2.gif cleaner" to your next tank of gas ($8).

That's it! ... pretty cheap, too.

Hope this helps!

95 Summit 1.5L Mitsubishi engine miss /lack of power

Somewhere along the the line you may have a fuel blockage or a good dose of water in your fuel tank.Check the water in tank 1st.Add 1 litre of metholated spirits to every 20 litres of fuel. This will allow the water to break down and be burnt through the motor over time.Do this twice. If this does not work, there may be a glob of **** in the fuel tank that blocks the pickup. If this is the problem, the tank needs to be taken out and cleaned.I hope this is a start to get you back on the road.

My sentra takes about 4mins to start in the morning.

Check the fuel system. make sure that the fuel filter is clean and working. Also check the choke settings. It seems that the choke is not engaging. try to press the accelerator all the way to the floor before starting the car. This will engage the choke. Then push it at least half the way down and try to start it. If not , the choke is the problem.

Rough idle, Car shakes, sputters and misfires upon acceleration

It sounds like you may have a problem feeding the fuel to your engine, I had the same problem with my 89 RS. All the 1989 model's fuel systems were recalled. I think you may need a new fuel pump. The fuel pump is located inside the gas tank in the rear of the car right under the rear axle. The fuel pump itself isn't too expensive, but with other small parts such as the electrical harness upgrade and fuel filter and the labor you should be looking somewhere in the $500 range. I hope this helps.
