If you want to do this you need to remove the inner door panel( and maybe a weather barrier). be aware if you have any power options with switches on the door panel they must be disconnected before you attempt door panel removal.as soon as you remove the door panel(usually two or three screws and a dozen easily breakable plastic clips holding it in place) you will be able to see the window lift mechanism. if the window has not fallen completely off track you will be able to see how it is held by the "lift cradle" carefully without letting the window fall down into the door place the window back into its track"cradle" and loosely tighten the fasteners. and reconnect the window crank or window switch temporarily to slowly lift and lower the window while supporting it with your hand (to be sure it doesn't fall off its track while testing it) check if the window is tracking properly. if if seems to slide up and down appropriately and lands into the window seal appropriately then lower the window to a place where you can snug down the window retainers not too tight so as not to break the glass. and replace the door panel. after all switches or mechanisms are replaced test it again slowly to check for appropriate function and if you are satisfied pat yourself on the back for a job well done. i hope this helps
Yes. But it is not as simple as putting the window back on track. Most new vehicles use a different type of regulator (not the old pinion and rack type gear. Most use a small motor that is attached to cables that raise and lower the window. Most often these cables break and the window falls. Pull the inner door panel off and you can verify. If it is the regulator, check out Amazon. Seem to have the best prices and warrantees. Good luck!
you may have to remove screws that are by the door handle,
arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the
panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want
to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to
get it off the window ledge. Then you can see if there's some slipped gears on the actuator... you can also temporarily wedge something into the door under the window to prop it up. but it's temporary and won't allow the window to operate (trying to operate the window with the wedges in will burn out your motor)
probably need a new window regulator. ebay. 93 to 98 should fit.

I used Plastic Shims. From the hardware store. The sort of look like shin wedges. To hold the window in place until I fixed it,
Most likely some kind of repair to the door panel will be needed, they should'nt have fallen out, so it is best to remove the panel, it only takes about 5 minutes, worked on 100's of Mustangs like yours, that was an average time.
Is this for a rear view mirror motor? or a side window? If it is for a side window motor you need to carefully take apart the door panel - the control (switch) panel on the window door panel is the trickest to remove - if your not careful you can break the clips when trying to get this dislodged from the door panel - after that there are a series of cover plates that cover the screws for removing this panel - and then there is all wires for the electronic devices - rear view mirror and other windows (if it is the drivers side) etc...
Note you will lock out your radio if you try and disconnect the battery to do this - so becareful you should not have to disconnect the battery to do this work -
once you get down to seeing the window glass you are almost there - you have to get the window all the way up and then remove the plastic splash guard poly sheet...
The motor mounts are difficult to get to - and watch out to not cut yourself -
also the window needs propped up when you take out the motor ...
