the pump dies when the engine stalls or runs too slow.
so, the steering has nothing to do with that , unless the
pump seized, so drop the belt and start car.
if car will not start, that is a no start question
post it as, cranks fast but will not start. and what engine option
some have diesel.
It is located on the fron of the motor. open the hood and look at the serpintine belt as it goes from pully to pully. youll have a water pump an a/c compressor, a power steering unit and the alternator the alternator will have a wire leading to the battery
Sounds to me that the power steering belt is loose. If it is a 2.4 litre engine it has two serpentine belts. You should replace the belts especially if it was smoking.
This could be one of 2 things, your alternator or power steering pump! But the braking part has me scratching my head! Dose it make this sound if the car is stopped an you rev the engine??? Has the car been in a 'fender-bender' lately? Do need more info!! Sorry Frankster016
