Sounds like it's time to replace fuel filter, or possibly a bad fuel pump. I'm uncertain why the gas pedal would be hard to push as it most likely isn't a cabled type on that new of a vehicle, but you can check by looking at the top of the pedal itself to see if there is a cable and if it's possibly frayed.
Has any,one worked on the car recently? It sounds like you have a vaccum hose broken or just leaking real bad.More info on how does it run when you have the gas pedal down,,is it running rough, missing, popping. This will help us getting to the bottom of your problem.
Two symptoms here Keith, and I just had this, same car year and model. The pedal could either be a bit loose, check the cable and throtle. Have someone check, when the cars in neutral, they manually rev it, and watch the RPM's. They should go 3-4 as normal. If this is the case, and its not the cable or pedal, REPLACE spark plug cables and wires. Odd, but that was the fix to mine. Hope it helps.
Ok Slow deceleration rev responce was part of the ECU software to keep the emissions down ,however if this has only just started you can try to reset the IAC valve ,the procedure is as follows.
Turn ignition key on ,unplug the IAC valve ,turn the key off ,replug the IAC valve. do this 3-4 times .Then start the engine while holding the gas pedal to 2000 rpm ,then slowley let the go of the gas pedal till the engine idles .
The IAC valve is located on the throtle body and has 4 wires to it.
Sometimes the throtle body needs to be cleaned and then reset.
Take off the fuse cover on the drivers side of the dash. there should be a bunch of fuses. in the middle is a red button that says "reset." turn your key to the on position, but DO NOT START. press the reset button until the change oil light blinks, then turn the key back off it should be fine after that. for the 05's theres somthing you have to do with the gas pedal. i think you do the same, by turning the key on but not starting...and then tapping the gas pedal 3 times.
