Did you replace the rad cap? It sounds like the rad cap is letting coolant out of the system but not back in. Even if you did replace the cap, the new one may be faulty so try a new one. Hope this helps.

My grand vitara 2007 1.8 lt has a running water noise when acelerate the water reservoir is full when the engine is hot and the radiator is empty

Is the car overheating?
The reservoir will fill up due to heat expansion in the system, this is normal. Top up at the radiator not the tank, run the engine and squeeze all the hoses to get rid of any airlocks.
Check on line to see if there is a bleed valve to get rid of any air in the system.
If the radiator was empty, the tank would not be full, unless you have a blocked coolant hose somewhere?

2002 silhoutte new tstat, radiator, belts and hoses runs hot no water at bleeder valve water pump 2 yrs old

It is running hot because have an air lock in the system. Check that the bleeder valve is not blocked . Take a hose off that is high up and run the engine until water comes out . Replace the hose and check for water in the radiator. Open the heater system to help bleed out the air.. If that fails take it to a radiator s\hop and have them pressure bleed it.

I have a 98 pontiac transport I have new lower intake. Gaskets, water pump,t-stat new radiator but I still only have air Coming from the bleed screw and it over heats.there's no water in my oil,what...

just keep bleeding the air out. unless you have a blown head gasket or cracked head, there is no way for the air to get in there accept for the work you have done. you can get a fitting that will screw in to the bleed port and hook a hose on it, stick the end of the hose in a jug half full of coolant and start the car let it idle you will see the bubbles coming out let it run with out the radiator cap on when it starts filling the jug with coolantwhen you dont see any bubbles put the cap on and kill the car. Replace the bleed plug and fill the radiator back full , make sure the over flow tank is full of coolant start the car let it run it will get rid of any other air and push it in the overflow tank and when it cools off it will suck the coolant back to the radiator.

How do i bleed the air to make it start circulating after changing the thermostat

Set the cabin heater control to hot setting. If fitted with climate control, then put the fan on it's lowest setting.
Remove the radiator cap and massage the radiator hoses by squeezing them with your hand (assuming they are cold/warm only)
Locate any bleed screws on any hoses, including the hoses which supply the cabin heater matrix. Slacken these bleed screws if available. Also check the thermostat housing for any metal bleed screw and slacken that too.
Run the vehicle, and keep a check on the radiator fluid level. Top up if necessary. As soon as coolant begins to leak from any bleed screws, shut them off. Run the vehicle up to temperature, until the radiator fan kicks in. Keep an eye on the temperature gauge and shut the vehicle off if the temperature climbs too high at any point.
Once the radiator fan kicks in, then close the radiator cap.

Run the vehicle for ten to twenty minutes once up to temperature.

Turn the vehicle off and allow to cool.

Check the radiator level and top off if required.

Check the expansion tank level and top up to mark.

Done!

After a day or so running, check the radiator level and expansion tank level again. During the first few days of running, pay particular attention to the engine temperature and coolant level.

In some cases the new addition to antifreeze can reduce the water's coefficient of friction/surface tension enough that small leaks can appear in the system. So after running for a few hours, check the entire system for leaks, and perform a pressure test if possible.

Antifreeze to water should usually be mixed at a ratio of 1 to 1 or 50/50

Good luck!

Have changed the water pump, thermostat, radiator, radiator cap, all hoses. 2001 chevy venture, still running hot? How long does it take to bleed the cooling system?

If the system fills via an expansion tank, I would recommend removing the top hose from the radiator and filling the system by pouring the coolant in through the hose until it begins to flow out of the upper radiator port. Reconnect the hose and then fill the expansion tank. That should take care of it.

Cant find the valve to let air pressure from my radiator for my water to flow right

FILL COOLANT SYSTEM UP BY POURING COOLANT IN THE EXPANSION TANK UNTIL COOLANT LEVEL STOP DROPPING IN THE EXPANSION.WHEN YOU POUR COOLANT IN EXPANSION TANK AIR BLEED OFF THROUGH THE SMALL COOLANT LINES GOING TO EXPANSION TANK.WITH PRESSURE CAP OFF RADIATOR COOLANT LEVEL IN EXPANSION IS AT FULL COLD MARK.WHAT YOU TO DO CRANK ENGINE UP LET IDLE WARM UP UNTIL COOLANT DROPS IN EXPANSION TANK KEEP ADDING COOLANT UNTIL STOP DROPPING STAY AT FULL COLD MARK.WHEN COOLANT LEVEL START RISING IN EXPANSION TANK.PUT PRESSURE CAP BACK ON RADIATOR.WHILE ENGINE IDLING WATCH TEMPERATURE GAUGE.IF START CLIMBING TURN OFF ENGINE LET IT SIT FOR LITTLE WHILE TAKE A LARGE RAG OPEN RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP A LITTLE AT A TIME TO KEEP FROM GETTING SCALDING TO RELEASE AIR IN COOLANT SYSTEM.WHEN PRESSURE IS RELEASED OPEN PRESSURE CAP ADD MORE COOLANT IN THE EXPANSION TANK.CRANK ENGINE AGAIN LET IDLE WHEN TEMPERATURE GAUGE START CLIMBING. TURN OFF ENGINE WAIT FOR WHILE BEFORE OPEN RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP.WHEN YOUR THERMOSTAT OPENS WHEN TOP RADIATOR HOSE IS HOT AND ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE GAUGE STOP CLIMBING AND COOLANT LEVEL STOP DROPPING IN THE EXPANSION TANK.ALL AIR IS EXPELLED FROM COOLANT SYSTEM TO KEEP ENGINE FROM OVERHEATING.

I have an audi 97 a4 6 sylander and i had to change the metal pipe wich transfer water from reservor to termostat housing do i need to bleed the system after fix and soo wher is the bleeding valve thanks...

you dont have to bleed the water it automatically takes out the air when it runs and the thermostat valve opens check the level again after a run of 5 miles or when the temp is in the middle

remember not to check when the engine is hot

1990 Subaru Liberty Overheats

Hi,

I had the same problem with my 1993 Liberty LX. Remove the thermostat (located inside bottom radiator hose engine connection - take the connection off and thermostat is inside). Reassemble (minus thermostat), reconnect bottom hose. Slowly (very, very slowly) refill the radiator and remove the bleed plug ( located beside the top hose connection to the radiator - a black square plug with a phillips head cross in the middle). When the radiator is full and clear water (no air bubbles) is coming out of the bleed point, replace the bleed plug and then the radiator cap.

Run the engine for five minutes (approx) or until normal engine temperature is reached. Allow the engine to cool down and recheck the water level - fill if necessary ensuring that the bleed plug is open and clear water is coming out of that point. Replace Bleed plug and then radiator cap. Run engine for five minutes (approx) and then test dive. If the engine overheats keep filling the radiator until there are no air bubbles coming from out of the bleed point.

This fixed my overheating problem. Good luck and safe motoring.
