System Description NEEL0216 MODELS WITHOUT POWER DOOR LOCKS NEEL0216S01 The rear window defogger system is controlled by the rear window defogger timer. Hard starting

Crank Angle Sensor (CAS) should be replace.

Most battery last 48 months,check the date code on top of the battery to see how long it is in service.

P1128 code,they replaced throttle body unit.with their hand held computer it taught part to sync with car computer so it works like it should,it didnt work.my check engine light still comes on and my car...

First off make sure they did what's called a "throttle valve closed position learning" & an "idle air learning" procedure. The following is the procedures they should have done before going ahead and replacing the throttle valve control motor which I am guessing that's the unit you are talking about.

1. Disconnect and reconnect ground at the motor (picture below of its location)
2. This may sound strange but if you go in there using this wording then it will sound as if you now what you are talking about. Ok, At the throttle control actuator harness they should check terminal 3 to terminal 114 at the ECM. Continuity should not exist. Then check the same terminal to ECM terminal 116. Continuity should exist. Picture of harness below.
3. At the throttle control actuator harness they need to check terminal 6 with ECM terminal 114. Continuity should exist. At the same terminal check it with terminal 116 at the ECM Harness and continuity should not exist. On steps 2 & 3 if the test was no good repairs to the wiring should be done.
4. Next they should have check the unit itself by checking the resistance at the actuator harness between terminals 3 & 6. It should have between 1 & 15 ohms. If not then the unit would be faulty.
5. If all the above tests passed then they need to check the shield current which would be way to much to post here but if that failed repairs to the harness or connector should be done.

All of this should have been done before replacing the unit itself. As you may have guessed I am in this business and come across many shops who have no idea what to test when it comes to Nissans. Nissans are controlled highly by its sensors which in turn tell the computer (ECM) how to make the vehicle run. They are not like many cars to where you get a code and just replace a sensor due to the fact there is a lot of wiring through many connectors which can go bad. The sterring whell is lock and elv is malfuntion

on the 5 series you can replace the elv itself it is an aluminum box bolted to the steering column under the kick pannel although bolts are very dificult to remove without removing the column but can be done. they are sheer bolts meaning that when tightened the heads are ment to brake off and you have to use a chizzle to break bolts loose

I have a 2006 325xi with a trouble code resembling a padlock and what looks like a steering wheel? but the steering wheel is not locked. what does it mean?

the common problem of this model is faulty Electrict Steering lock (ELV) but somtime you can fix it by reprograming the CAS or complate vehicle, i suggest you to bring your car to BMW sevice center for proper investigation and also to check if there is available I-level update.

SUZUKI AERIO ENGINE CUTS OUT ,JERKS AND SURGES ON

I have a 1.6L Liasna/Aerio. 2002.130,000km.
Recently it had a problem, a problem that I seem to see on other websites.
The vehicle was cruising on the highway and suddenly jerked, surged, and cut out. Another case was when it was stopped at the lights and the RPM faded to a cut. Accelerator application would not keep the rpm up.

The common factor in all four cases was that it was a very hot day. Temp was 32-35 degrees C, (around 95 degree F).

I let the vehicle cool down and then got a restart and limped home. Sometimes had a repeat enroute. A dangerous exercise, having the engine cut on a busy highway!

The vehicle then started and ran on cooler days without a murmer.

The local Suzuki shop had a look at it but nothing showed up on the inbuilt computer!

After a fourth incident I took it back to the Suzi shop and this time the service rep said that they had had a few other Liana's come in with the same problem. These vehicles were with the later larger engine, the 1.8L M18A.
The problem it would appear was the CRANK ANGLE SENSOR. A bit of solid state kit it costs about A$100 and is located near the alternator. After replacement I have had no problems but I need to do some driving in hot weather to really find out.
In the trouble shooting game you sometimes need to work on the process of elimination so I also had the air filter replaced as well as the Air Inlet Temp. probe (IAT). (Both inexpensive).
From reading up on Suzuki Liana/Aerio (US) problems I can see more than a few which I can put down to a problem with the CAS.
Some vehicles seem to have a problem in that they will turn over but not start. Again most likely a CAS problem. It would seem to me that if there is one consistant problems with Lianas/Aerios then it is a faulty CAS.

The CAS replaces the older distributor. A gear wheel in the engines turns next to the CAS and that in turn passes a signal to the vehicles computer to fire the spark plugs. The CAS may be a solid state bit of kit but can still fail.

Radiators. The Liana has two radiators, each with their own electric cooling fan. The left unit is for the engine block cooling fluid. The right unit is for the air con unit and for external cooling of the engine block and accessories mounted behind the engine. Both radiators have heat sensors. The left has a temp probe that when high turns on the elec cooling fan. The right cooling fan will come on when the air con unit is turned on or when the engine block gets hot. Be advised that the Liana/Aerio runs cooler than a lot of other vehicles so, even on a hot day, the fans may not come on when you expect them to. The CAS unit is located in a hot part of the engine so when the outside air temp rises, such as on a hot day, the temp of the engine block and the oil inside it as well as the air around the CAS probe rises and that is when the unit fails.
Perhaps I if I were to design or modify the Liama (a great little vehicle) I would direct a bit more cooling air around the CAS.

The CAS is a part of modern cars and I note that the CAS in other cars also fail so it is not a Liana/Aerio only problem. Given time and experience car designers will rid us of this over-temp CAS failure problem with better design.

Comment; If you are having a problem such as described then get the CAS replaced. It may be the item that the mechanics overlook in their trouble shooting but is the key to your problem.

1991 Sierra GMC AC control problem

The follwing is a cut and paste from a service bulletin:

Bulletin No.: 461202

Date: May, 1994

SUBJECT:
A/C CONTROL HEAD FLASHES OR ERRATIC OPERATION OF A/C CONTROLS (POLISH
TERMINALS)

MODELS:
1988-94 CHEVROLET AND GMC TRUCK C/K MODELS
1990-94 CHEVROLET AND GMC TRUCK TOPKICK/KODIAK MODELS WITH C60 OR C69 AIR
CONDITIONING

CONDITION:

A/C Control Head flashes, performs erratically or malfunctions.

CAUSE:

Light surface corrosion on the Control Head terminals.

CORRECTION:

Remove the A/C Control Head and while holding the unit with the terminal
cavity down (toward the floor) so no particles will fall inside on the
circuit boards, polish the terminals on both sides of the cavity with a lead
pencil pink eraser. Do not use an ink eraser or other abrasive such as a
small wire brush or sandpaper, etc. Doing so will remove the terminal
coating and degrade the contact surface.

Performing this procedure, in many cases, will make replacing the Control
Head unnecessary. Using this procedure in conjunction with the A/C circuit
diagnosis found in the Electrical Diagnosis Manual and especially before
replacing a Control Head for any reason is recommended.

After polishing the Control Head terminals, but before reconnecting, check
for proper terminal contact as described in the applicable electrical
diagnosis manual. If contact is good, apply dielectric grease (P/N 12345579)
to the harness connector terminals. Please do not apply grease to the
Control Head.
