what size motor is in your car and is it a DOHC (dual overhead cam)? or a single cam/

It is chain driven. The Sentra SL only has 1 Engine available, which is a Dual OverHead Cam with variable intake cam timing. The SE-R Sentra has a 2.5 liter, Chain Driven Cam.

It is quite definitely a timing chain driven Camshaft setup. I've replaced cylinder heads on these engines. There is no "plastic" timing belt on them.

more info please when was the last time it started normally?because if the timing belt or chain snaps you'll have bigger problems.first check the fuel lines if there is enough pressure..check the fuel pump most ly on cars like this fuel pump is the first one to go

timing BELT ! IF YOU NOTICE A LOSS OF POWER ON PARKWAY, you will need to replace the belt, or it will get worst, can't keep up with other cars and it will damage the engine. making it work harder. just replaced one on 2002 nissan sentra, my daughters car. very complicated, left dealer do it, $900 .

well maybe there was some mis-communication there , nissan stopped using timing belts in sentra's and actually most all models in 2000 , maybe they were telling you that your serpentine belt needed changed ? but to answer your question , you do not have a timing belt in your 2002 nissan sentra . its a chain . thanks
