The truck starts when I turn the ignition but then immediately dies like it's not getting fuel but the fuel pump is running. Most times when this happens, if I leave the key in the ignition in the on position for a short time, 5-10 mins., the truck will start. This happens with no relation to weather or weather conditions.
You may have a problem with the contacts in the ignition switch (not key part), when you crank the engine a signal is sent to the fuel pump to run, when it starts and you let off the key another set of contacts keeps the pump getting power Through a relay), these are known as crank and run modes.
Dodge 2001 3/4 ton had tiny pin hole on top of transmission pan. Got home from a short drive and the transmission fluid leaked vigourously on the ground. We wanted to get back home, so we have jb welded the hole, put transmission fluid in. The battery was drained because of the light my husband used to help cure the jb weld. We jump started the truck and it would turn over and run but I had to push in on the gas peddle to keep it running. If I take my foot off it dies. I am able to start it back up but I still have to step on gas peddle. What is wrong with our truck?

Yeah I know about that!!! Inherited this truck in feb. It has something to do with PASSLOCK on my model. an anti theft device. My father before passing had ignition changed. was told would solve..... well it doesn't happen as often, but when it does it could be min or hour. It does so usally when this little yellow SECURITY light on upper right side of instrument panel decides to do it's own thing. It will just come on driving down the road!!! But if it's blinking when turning over, no go.
truck starts and runs you can`t turn ignition all the way of to remove key
Truck will not start at all
