The air compressor is bad and the bearings and pulley as well. Can just the pulley and bearings be replaced until the compressor can be replace just to stop the horrible noise or can a smaller serpentine belt stop the problem for the time being

Need to determine if the compressor is good by turning the center of the pulley assembly.if that turns then remove the serpintene belt and check the pulley for free operation. It should spin with no restrictions. If the compressor is good ,remove the electric plug for a/c clutch and remove center shaft bolt.taping on the side of the compressor clutch shoe , The shoe should come off. May require a screwdriver to carefully pry off. Once the shoe is removed there is a large snap ring inside the pulley bearing that needs to be removed. After that is done ,the clutch magnet should also come off ,and that will be the a/c compressor that is left. The a/c clutch , clutch shoe ,and pulley/ bearing are sold seprate. Let me know if that helps

Do they make a air compressor bypass pulley for a 2005 Pontiac vibe

That is not an air compressor, it is a AC refrigerant pump. Yes they make bypass pulleys.

My car runs fine until warm but when aircon is turned on my car and steering wheel vibrates and revs drop to 0.7-0.500 revs?it is a 2003 proton jumbuck with 148k on it.

Probably a bad bearing on the A/C compressor. Replace the compressor. Bearing is on the inside, not the pulley bearing.

2.0 Liter, 2003 Rav4. Car had a ticking noise, Toyota replaced serptine belt and still makes ticking noise. Toyota says its lower engine rod bearings. I used stethascope and noise seems to be coming from...

big end bearings( lower engine rod bearings to confuse) knock at idle and get louder with rpm
if the noise changes with rpm and you are hearing it near the ac compressor then it could be the ac pulley bearing
test if it is the compressor by listening and then turning the ac off the pulley will still spin but the compressor stops
if the noise remains , replace the pulley bearings

My 90 Ford Bronco is making a lot of noise from the air conditioner pulley. Can I replace it without having to take out the freon? If so, where can I get repair instructions at little or no cost? Thanks,...

Yes, if the bearing is bad, you can pull it off. Theres only 1 bolt and a snap ring, and take the belt off. . An A/C shop can replace the bearing. Usually by th etime the bearing is bad, the compressor is worn out. But if it cools ok and not leaking, then replace the pulley bearing.

Air conditioning compressor pulley siezed on my 1999 chevrolet blazer, 6 cyl. is the clutch or pulley replacable?

If it is just the pulley, and not the compressor, then yes,the bearing for this is replacable for about 20 dollars or less, but if the compressor is locked up,you will have to replace the whole ac compressor, and it`s components.

Is there anyway to bypass the a/c pulley when putting on a serpentine belt on a 1997 pontiac bonneville SE. Compressor is locked up and want to just bypass it.

I don't know of a practical way to get around this problem. If just the bearing inside of the clutch pulley is bad [which would first be noisy then might lock up and burn off the belt] then you may be able to have just that bearing replaced so your belt will work again. I've replaced several of these bearings over the years...they are pressed in place and do require a bit of skill and a good press to replace. Sometimes though the bearing will go bad and damaged the nose of the compressor badly enough that the only fix is to replace the compressor. The only real way to tell is to examine it all once the clutch pulley has been removed from the compressor. Hope this helps a bit!

Ac compressor pulley bearings bad, and pulley makes noise.

buy yourself a remanufactured A/C compressor, as you need specialized tools to rebuild and old compressor as well as the seals.

A/C compressor bearing sounds bad. Can bearing & pulley be replac

it is best to replace the whole compressor but if it was me I would go and get a can of 134A oil and put that in first to see that helps with the problem and if not then replace the compressor they are somewhere around $40 to $75 at a good salvage yard and you can try www.junkyarddog.com and if you cannot find one there try www.schramauto.com or call them at 1-800-292-1032

RE: 2001 Nissan Altima air conditioner

Sounds to me like you need the alternator idler pulley. Look at it and see if it has a big washer covering portion of the pulley, or if the washer is inside the pulley. If its inside, than you have an old pulley. Replace it with the one, that has the big washer in the middle of pulley. You do have another idler for the A/C compressor. Those I have seen fail also. But 80% of the time its the alternator idler pulley.
