Failed the emissions test (Il..) code came up P1441. After researching code translatons it means: evaporative emission system flow during non- purge. I called advanced auto parts( because that or any code means a part is failing, according to the emissions tech(?) who gives the test) to buy the part. The part man said it could be any part in the evaporative emissions path/circuit ie: gas cap, ____?stuck open, broken vacuum hose, vapor cannister, etc. I thought I 'd get a schematic of the system and try to follow the path to see if I could spot a split in a line, anything disconnected, anything loose etc. Anyway those are my emission problems with my car...thanks for any help I may get!

Ok looking for evap leaks are sometimes hard a vary small leak will cause you grief you can try to pressure up your fuel system with air hose to fuel filler opening 3 psi max , don't blow your self up , get a garden sprayer and dish soap with water and start spraying down the evap system look for bubbles and fix the leak

Definition of po1441 trouble code

P1441 Evaporative emission control system very small leak, positive pressure.
The problem may be that the purge control valve which is part of the charcoal canister has a slight leak.
If the control valve doesn't completely close, there will be flow during non-purge.
Vacuum drawn through the small hose to the charcoal canister is what opens the purge control valve.
Make sure that there is no vacuum to the smallest hose connected to the canister at idle.
Make sure the little hose is not kinked or pinched in some way that would hold vacuum to the purge control valve.
The canister is purged above 35 MPH, never at idle.

P0446 EVAP canister vent valve

The P1441 and P0446 are related.
When you fix the P1441 the P0446 may go away also or it may need a new vent valve.

1996 pontiac firebird 5.7 liter engine light on po1441

Two choice dudes code there...

DTC P0441 - Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Control System Incorrect Purge Flow
EVAP emission canister purge is contolled by a valve which allows engine vacuum to pull stored fuel vapors from fuel tank into the engine to be burned, rather than be vented to atmosphere. A vacuum switch is used to detect when flow exists. If the PCM commands purge and sees that the switch is closed (indicating no detected purge flow) P0441 is set.
With a P0441 OBD-II trouble code, diagnosis can be tricky at times. Here are some things to try:
  • Common Chrysler fix - Replace Leak Detection Pump / LDP
  • Repair damaged EVAP lines or canister
  • Repair open or short in voltage feed circuit to Purge Solenoid
  • Repair open in PCM purge command circuit
  • Replace purge Solenoid
  • Replace vacuum switch
  • Repair restriction in Evap line or canister or soleniod
  • Repair resistance in purge connector
  • Replace PCM

ost generally caused by a purge valve stuck open. the only way to diag for sure is with a gm tech 2 scan tool and a smoke machine. but if dont mind spending a few bucks as a good quess. Replace the purge valve.

Hope this helps.

Wont start and trouble code is p1441

P1441 Evaporative Emission System Flow During Non-Purge.

The vacuum system/Evaporative recovery system. Evap. (vapor cannister) code MAY be as a result of excessive fuel flow into the cylinders overloading the cannister's capacity. Possible cause is a failing Oxygen sensor giving a "Lean" indication to the engine computer, causing more fuel than is needed to be injected into the cylinders and captured by the vapor system. Trying to keep track of the changing readings may be taxing the computer's memory. Have the oxygen sensor checked. If it is functioning correctly, check for vacuum leaks, cracked or broken vacuum hoses.

Take you car to a professional as this is going to take some skill and knowledge to repair. Dont keep buying parts to fix the problem as this will get very expensive.

Imisions test comes back with, code P1441 ?

P1441 is a EVAP code, small leak I thinking.

P1441 Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System Flow During Non-Purge

Now for the fix: the ECM uses a pressure sensor to watch the system and see that there are no leaks. If it sees a leak via the pressure sensor, it sets this code. The ECM wants to see the pressure sensor voltage drop down, indicating that there is vacuum on the system, and it wants it to be able to hold this vacuum for at least 30 seconds. If this does not happen, it will set a code. As a note, the vent solenoid is the most common failure on these systems.

Hope helps (remember to rate and comment this).

Advanced auto checked my car and the code comes up "p1441" "dealer" yet no one will or can tell me what it means

The biggest reason for this is that many of the codes are universal to all cars but when they come up as dealer the manufacturer set the parameter for this code. This code for a on several models P1441 - Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System Flow During Non-Purge The purge valve may be stuck open allow it to purge even when it should not be. I will see if I can find anything else on this for you.
