The fuel sending unit is located on the fuel pump itself, located on the side of your fuel pump inside of the gas tank itself.you'll need to replace the entire fuel pump in order to solve fuel level issues. the fuel tank will have to come out,and then the fuel pump removed and replaced.it really stinks to have a bad fuel guage reading false, only to find out that the entire fuel pump has to be replaced to solve a false reading . feel free to call your local autozone or advance autoparts store for details. but here is a hint" the more fuel in your tank at the time of replacement of the fuel pump, the more expensive it will be.due to the fuel tank being "heavy" that has been my expereince so far. good luck and thank you for choosing fixya.com

Where is the fuel level sensor located on a 2005 chevey malibu??

the sensor is on the gas tank-if you remove the rear bench seat, there is an access plate to get to the top of the tank. Located under that is the fuel pump/fuel sensor level sensor. Remove the o-ring and lift the assembly out. On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the most difficult) it is a 3 or 4, tops.

Gas gauge quit working. Is there a fuse or sensor?

It sounds like your Fuel Level Sending Unit, usually located with the Fuel Pump inside the gas tank, has gone out. The Fuel Level Sending Unit sends the signal to your ECU, and then it goes to the Fuel Level gauge. Replace the Fuel Level Sending Unit and your gauge should be back to normal.

Full tank of gas and getting low fuel indicator on dash

Bad fuel level sensor. Unfortunately it is located inside the gas tank. Fairly common problem on GM's. Due to sulphur in fuel. Corrodes the sensor tabs. Expensive to have repalced and NOT a do-it-yourself project, unless you have dropped a tank before.

The fuel level sensor located on the fuel pump is giving a false reading. You need to have the fuel level sensor replaced. or the fuel pump replaced. The sensor might not come seperately
