Hyundai elantra 2008 passenger door won't open from inside or outside. The power locks work for all other doors and this one unlocks but will not open.

Their is a rod that runs from inside handle to a lever that pulls up on the latch mechanism. The outside handle has a rod that runs to the same place, what I have seen is the rod running from lever to mechanism come loose at the mechanism and neither handle will work.

How I can manualy unlock rear door on 2008 dodge nitro?

I see you are ale to see the cables and rods how and when they operate. When you to open the latch from the outside and the inside. Are you able to see if they move the mechanism up or down as you try to open the door working the latch outside and the inside door handle. Sounds like your door latch broke internally, the only thing I was able to do was from the inside with somebody holding the outside latch up to open. Kick it hard in the area where the door latch is. Lay on the sit and kick it hard while the outside individual lifts the latch and pulls. It should pop open. Good luck.

Driver Side Door wont open from inside or outside. also passenger side door wont close! Help

On the passenger door, make sure the latch isn't in the closed position(have someone pull on the handle while pulling the latch mechanism with a screwdriver)The drivers side is gonna be interesting. You might be able to get at the door latch mechanism by rolling the window all the way down, and use a coathanger or similar tool to operate the linkage levers that way.

My rear passenger side door will not close

Just use the outside door handle and pull on the latch that is closed. If you use the inside door handle then you will have to undo the child lock.
Pull on the latched that is closed while holding the outside door handle....Make sure that it is unlocked...

I have a 2001 Ford Escape with a passenger side front door that will not open from outside (handle is just pulls out and does not go in) and inside handle does not release the door either. To get the door...

You might try having someone inside, pulling steadily on the door handle and then 'bumping' near the latch assembly on the outside with the heel of the hand. This will cause some confused latches to let go again.

Have a 1999 ford explorer xlt got out of truck and the passenger door won't close tried locking and unlocking door to no avail. So now my passenger door won't close. What is wrong

It is possible the latch mechanism closed after opening the door. Get a flat blade screwdriver and stand outside your truck, looking at the door latch area. you should see a small flat arm that is making a closed loop in the area where the door striker goes. Stick the screwdriver inside the loop and gently pry outward on the loop as you pull the door handle. That loop is actually like a tongue that should flip inwards towards the truck as you pull the handle. There are a few different ways you could possibly flip the latch back, depending on the exact configuration of the latch assembly. Usually on my wife's van we have to put the screwdriver through the loop from the outside and rest the tip on the door. Then, as we pull the handle, we move the handle of the screwdriver toward the vehicle which flips the latch back down so the door striker post can go inside the latch. I hope this helps and please rate my solution - I'll wait a little while to see if it works for you - if not let me know right away and I'll try to help you figure this out. Thanks for using fixya!!!

1972 corvette stingray, driver side door does not open fron either inside or outside.

Sounds like the door latch mechanism is worn out.

The door latch mechanism for your door is operated by rods, from the inside door handle, and the outside door handle.
It is highly unlikely, (Though not impossible), that all those two rods have fallen off. (Spring clips hold the rods in place. Opening Rod Control Clip. In the link below they are shown as Item E)

With the window all the way down, carefully use a long flat tip screwdriver, to push down on the lever for the door latch mechanism, to open the door. Make sure the lever for the door lock, in the door latch mechanism, is in the fully unlock position.

This link may help show you the inner door hardware, I'm referring to above,

http://www.mamotorworks.com/corvette-c3-door-hardware+1968+1982-inner-1-106-9491.html

You can see that when you pull out on the inner door handle, it pulls a rod forward. This rod is attached to a Bellcrank. The Bellcrank in turn pulls down on another rod, which pulls down on a small lever in the door latch mechanism, to release the door latch.

When you push down on the outside door handle, it pushes a small rod that is attached to that same lever as the inner door handle. Looking down through the window opening in the door, it is that lever that you're trying to push down, to open the door.

Viewing down through the window opening, try to operate the outside door latch a little. Watch to see what lever it tries to move. That's the lever you have to move Down, with the flat tip screwdriver.

With the door open, it is a matter to check out,

1.The Inside Door Opening Control, (The inside door handle is attached to it), to see if the locking part of it is functioning correctly. Make sure that it goes to the full Unlocked position.

2.The Door Latch Mechanism. Make sure it is functioning correctly. It, along with the various door hardware parts inside the door, needs to be lubricated at specific intervals. The more it's used, the higher the interval rate goes up. (I find that owners seem to Skip this task a lot! I use Lubriplate White Lithium spray)

To replace the door latch mechanism, I suggest you buy a manual for your car, so you can view all of the door hardware to remove, to remove the door panel. Then view how the spring clips come off of the rods, and the three screws come out of the door latch mechanism.
