My 1995 saturn sl2 has a transmission fluid leak while it is in reverse from the bottom and sometimes doesn't want to go into gears right. what does this mean

I think you know that your car is not supposed to
have any leaks. All leaks have to be repaired

You also know that if the trans leaks, it will not
work correctly, as it is now doing, and if it isn't
ruined already it will be soon

You surely have been checking the fluid levels,
knowing your have a leak

If your planning on keeping it,plan on a
trans rebuilt in the near future

1995 Saturn SL2 Automatic. Will not shift into gear when first started. Must warm up first, sometimes for 20-30 minutes. Engine starts right up and runs good. What do I need to fix? Thank you Robert

you have dirty cervo valves.Pour one pint of deisel fuel into transmission let run for approx.5 minutes.Drain all of fluid out.Change filter on front of transmission(it looks like a oil filter)replace fluid and that should take care of problem.

1999 saturn sl2 transmission wont shift from 1st gear

Your valve body and possibly input shaft nut need to be replaced. The valve body's booster valve is worn down and won't create pressure. Before it went completely out it slammed on the input shaft nut and loosened it.

You need to replace the valve body and retorque the input shaft nut. The transmission is not junk. The above needs to be replaced and change the filter and fluid and do it every 20K miles.

1999 saturn sl2 5 speed transmission will not go into reverse 2nd gear sometimes will not engage is there a linkage adjustment.

There is no 'adjustment' but you can check your linkage for security making sure nothing is loose or worn. Also check your fluid levels. If reverse is completely out and your starting to lose second you will probably need to have the transmission rebuilt or replaced.

How to drain transmission fluid in 1993 saturn sl2?

About the only way to drain transmission fluid is to take off the oil pan on the bottom of the tranny. There is no drain plug on transmissions.

Good luck

1999 Saturn SL2 shifting problems

I also have a 1999 sl2 saturn . I was having about the same problem but mine also did not want to go into reverse somtimes as well . Ichanged my fluid and filter and put in a good trans conditioner and just about all my trouble went away. The trans filter is just like a oil filter it just screws on the outside of the transmission . It is located down under the air filter housing, and the fluid plug is right on the bottom of the trans.

Automatic transmission leak in reverse and low gear.

There is a low/reverse accumulator located on the side of the transmission, I believe it is on the rear side of the engine compartment. You could have a bad "O" ring that seals the cover or the snap ring may have come off and allowed the cover to become unseated.
The problem is easily fixed if nothing is broken.
Good luck and let me know.

1993 Saturn SL2 will not shift into highway gear

Saturn says and I quote

there transmission fluid is not to be changed after the first change at 6000 miles.

Now I say it should be changed at every 30000 miles. If changing out the fluid doesn't work then you need to go to a transmission repair shop.
