The ignition key not turning at all and the steering wheel is locked? Town and Country model2000

If the steering wheel is under great tension, this can cause the key to be unable to unlock the steering column or turn in the cylinder. Try pulling the wheel first to the right while turning the key, and if that fails, then the left. Often this will release the tension and allow the key to turn and the column to unlock.

Try rotating the steering wheel; it may be inline with one of the locks.

Sometimes the mechanical system that locks your steering wheel has too much vehicle weight which can prevent the key from turning. If you can move the vehicle back and forth while someone turn the steering wheel and turn the ignition switch.

SOUNDS LIKE YOU NEED A NEW IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER, WITH NEW KEYS. IT CAN BE CHANGED STEERING WHEEL IN PLACE. REMOVE THE PLASTIC UNDER THE STEERING WHEEL, TAKE A LOOK.

have to turn the steering wheel to the left or right as hard as you can and turn key to unlock.

I have a 2000 town and country and 10 month ago we had the same problem .you have to go to the dealer and change an ignition key lock switch.i think the part was about $100. and the labor (at my mechanic) $40.hope it was helpful

try to look for a fuse.

i would take it to a service center that does a ,,,free,,, under car inspection,,so it doesn't become a safety issue,,,& you will know whats broken,,,

Well sometimes you can wiggle the steering wheel back and forth even when wheel is locked just apply moderate pressure and try to wiggle steering wheel back and forth and at same time use your other hand and try to jiggle the key to the on position.

first make sure the steering wheel isn't in the lock position, putting pressure on the ignition switch. if that is ok, get the key cylinder replaced asap before it quits completely. (harder to change a that point) what condition is the key in? maybe try fresh one.
