your tensioner pulley is most likely spring loaded with a square slot and it made for a 3/8 inch drive ratchet set your ratchet to loosen stick it in the hole and give it a little crank it is spring loaded so you'll have to hold of their why you pulled the belt off but it will loosen the belt and should be really easy to slip off

loosen the belt tension adjuster jam nut on side and loosen the lockscrew to loosen release tension to the AC COMPRESSOR belt.your vechicle has two tension adjusters one for power steering and tension adjuster for AC COMPRESSOR AND ALTERNATOR.

First remove the engine plastic cover by removing the bolts that hold in. Then loosen the nuts at the front of the AC Belt and Power Steering Belt. Now use a Socket set and loosen these two belts by turning the tension adjustment bolt, Anti-Clockwise.

You have to remove the first two belts (AC & Power Steering) before reaching the Serpentine Belt.

Now loosen the nut on the front of the lowest pulley before loosening the serpentine belt.

To loosen the serpentine belt, you could either remove the metal skid plate at the bottom of the engine by turning the tension adjustment bolt, Anti-Clockwise or reach down from the top and loosen it with the socket set ( quick & easiest)

FOR THE 3.0L ENGINE IF YOU REPLACE AC BELT LOOSEN TOP IDLER PULLEY CENTER BOLT. IF YOU REPLACING ALTERNATOR AND WATER PUMP BELT LOOSEN ALTERNATOR ADJUSTMENT BOLT AND PIVOT BOLT.IF REPLACING POWER STEERING PUMP BELT LOOSEN POWER STEERING PUMP ADJUSTMENT BOLT AND MOUNTING BOLTS.****** FOR THE 2.4L ENGINE TO REMOVE POWER STEERING BELT LOOSEN TOP IDLER PULLEY.FOR ALTERNATOR AND WATER PUMP BELT LOOSEN ALTERNATOR ADJUSTER BOLT, PIVOT AND MOUNTING BOLTS.FOR AC COMPRESSOR LOOSEN LOWER IDLER PULLEY.

I would first determine where the bolts are for the ac compressor and loosen them until the belt slides off.

Or, I know this may sound goofy, but you can get a breaker bar and socket or a large wrench and turn the crankshaft while putting a large flat screwdriver in between the v-belt and one side of the v of the pulley, and TURRRRRN it slowly until the screwdriver wedged in there actually takes the belt off (with turning).

That's a trick to use, but inspect the belt for damage afterward, or replace the belt if it is damaged in the process, which it usually is not.

loosen the center bolt of the a/c idle pulley, then on top of pulley you will see the adjusting bolt, turn to loosen to remove belt, after new belt , tighten to where you have 1/2 play on elt then tighten center nut of pulley

first of all you don't have to loosen the pulley,this will no solve the problem,well you already loosen the adjuster,good,bot thing you have not done i will tell you now,on the power steering pump where the belt pass there is also a bolt that hold it ,you must loosen that also,then after you will see the pump moving on the two position that means you will see the belt loosen on 1 position an d the position it will tight the belt,try that man.............

that would be your drive belt, you shouldnt have to loosen any bolt. There should be a belt tensioner. it looks like a pulley. which is round, looks the the pulley that runs around the ac, power steering and all that, it should be about a 13mm, take it and push it barly, it should loosen up the belt for u to replace!!! any questions feel free to ask me!!

When you replace the AC belt you really should replace the serpentine belt as well, since you will have to take it off already. If you don't do it now it is inevitable that you will have to replace it in like 3 weeks anyway : )

You need to first remove the serpentine belt by loosening the nut in the center of the idler pulley. After that you will need to loosen the push bolt on the side of the idler pulley. The hub bolt is a 15mm size and the push bolt on the side of the tensioner is a 13mm I think. After you loosen it sufficiently, you will need to pull off the old belt.

Next you will need to loosen the tensioner pulley for the AC belt as well. It is the same process. The main issue is space. You will most likely need to raise your car to get at the right angles to loosen these pulleys.

Once you loosen the idler pulley in the same manner as you loosened the other, you can slip the AC belt onto the back of the crank pulley and route it as the diagram under your hood instructs you. Next tighten up the idler pully in the opposite way as you loosend it...tighten up the push bolt until the belt play is within factory specifications, then tighten the hub bolt in the center of the pulley. Do the same for the serpentine belt and you should be up and running in no time. I just performed these tasks on my 2000 300m and I wish someone would have told me this before I started my project. I have just replaced the belt myself. Loosen the nut slightly that holds on the AC belt idler pulley. I removed the fan assy for access room but maybe you have smaller hands than me. Down at the bottom of the AC belt adjustment assembly, there is a long adjuster bolt. I beleive that the head is 13mm on my 2001 Trep ES. This bolt head can be accessed at an angle thru the bottom using a long extension to loosen and tighten the belt. Remember to tighten the nut in the center of the idler pulley that you loosened before.
Remember SAFETY! Never get under anything that is not well supported. No jack is trustworthy.
