I turn the key and get nothing. The battery checks good and I have power to the starter. Dash lights come on. Battery leads are clean and tight as well as the negative cable to ground on the engine.

My Nissan Primera EGT (1993 Reg'd) has an immobiliser, which was causing a similar problem. Turned on ignition and nothing. The immobilizer was faulty to the starter motor, so we disconnected it from the starter and left the immobilizer on the fuel line. Starts now, no problem and the immobilizer would still stop the potential thieves as they'd have no idea without the immobilizer key why the engine will no more than start then stutter to a big full stop!!.
The 240SX is probably a more modern Nissan but I bet there's an immobilizer built into it somewhere. You may need to take it to a Nissan expert or Dealer to check out. It's almost definitely something weird like an immobilizer or maybe the starter motor's blown it, but then you'd have heard the graunching noises that starter motors make when they're about to clap out, they don't usually just go. There may also be some disconnection of wires to the alternator, which amplifies the spark to the engine, but the starter motor would still turn, your engine just wouldn't fire up with the too weak spark. So if nothing moves, it's most likely an immobilizer or possibly (but unlikely) a sudden death starter motor.

I have a 240SX and this happens occasionally, I find if I cycle through the gears on the automatic transmission and back into park it will start, I think there is a sensor in there to make sure you are in park or neutral. I knew someone with a 93 Sentra same problem.

How to fix 2004 Suzuki 1600?

A few questions so I can help. Is this a Suzuki motorbike or a car? What EXACTLY does it do when you turn the key? How did you 'check for electric'? A vehicle battery should have between 12.6volts to 13.2 volts.
When you turn a starter motor over it needs a large amount of volts to power it, anything under 10 volts and it will struggle. Even a fully charged battery can struggle to turn a starter motor if it is old or faulty.
Try this. First look at the battery and check the terminals are clean and tight. Sometimes it can be as easy as that. Turn the key and look and listen carefully. Try to start the engine. Do you get absolutely nothing and no dash lights? Do you get dash lights which go off when you start the bike but you only get a quiet 'Click'? Do you get dash lights which go off and then a louder 'Clunk'? Does the engine turn over but it's very slow and lazy?
Absolutely nothing suggests a dead or totally flat battery and a lazy, slow starter is a low charge in the battery. A Quiet click could be the Starter Relay and a louder 'Clunk' could be the starter solenoid or the starter itself.

92 plymouth voyager wont start and nothing work the windows wont go down the lock and unlock button does nothing idk what the problem is i had the battery tested and the battery is fine what would cause...

Nothing works? How about the headlights, do they work? If yes, then start checking all fuses in the Power Distribution Center or Box under the hood. If no, then look for a bad maxi-fuse in the PDC, and check for a bad fusible link between the battery and the PDC. The battery positive cable goes to the starter, but a pigtail lead off the positive would go to the PDC, to distribute power to all the various circuits on the car.
When you turn the key to on, does the dash light up? If yes, at least power is getting to, and going through the ignition switch. One could then check for power on the starter solenoid wire when key was held in crank or start position.
If nothing when turning key to on-no dash lights, nothing-then check for an ignition fuse in the PDC. If fuse is good check for power being available at the ignition switch connector. If no power there, check wiring between PDC and the ignition switch-if power is up to the switch, but nothing happens with key on, no dash or warning lights, then could have a bad ignition switch.
It just sounds like a maxi-fuse has blown, or a bad fusible link. Good luck.

When i turn the key all power is lost. i wait 5 seconds and the power comes back but every time i turn the key it dies again.

Check your battery terminals and make sure they are clean by removing and lightly sanding with some rough sand paper (wipe down when finished), also the wires/cables going to them, they should not move when tightened on terminals. Also clean and tighten the negative (earth) cable/wire and if you have easy access check to see if the main starter motor lead is tight, be careful if you need to tighten it as you can short out the positive (starter motor lead) with the negative (anywhere on car thats metal 95% of it). You have poor connection somewhere which is causing your problem.

I turn the switch on a 1999 gmc sirrea and it would not say nothing.it will not start

Be sure it is in park...Sounds like a dead battery.....If you know for sure battery is good you have to check alll fuses for power...If the battery is good for sure and you turn the switch on and cant get power to any fuses or no dash lights then the ignition switch has failed....You will have to use a test light to check fuse power..So if all is good ...battery,fuses,and dash lights come on when ignition is turned on check to be sure battery cables are tight then it should be the starter....sometimes the small wire that connects to the starter solenoid will vibrate loose and all you have to do is tighten wire but disconnect battery before you tighten wire...check all wires connected to starter....If all is clean and tight then the starter has failed...hope this will help....I am standing by if you need more assistance...........................................metalpoet

When you turn key nothing happens, lights, horn, radio works

check the battery conections for tightness then check continuaty to starter motor.. if power is getting to starter , could be starter. however if any of the dash lights go dim when turning key , suspect the battery.

JUST PAID OVER $600 A MONTH AGO - NEW STARTER, BATTERY, IGNITION SWITCH, AND TUNE-UP - LEFT HOME, STOPPED AT MOM'S, GOT BACK IN 1998 JEEP WRANGLER - NOTHING! NO ATTEMPT AT STARTER, NO CLICKS, NO NOISE -...

Sounds like a faulty / intermittent Earth connection. Check all the battery and earth leads where they connect to the Battery, Engine, Starter Motor and Body. If possible disconnect, clean thoroughly by removing any corrosion or paint that could cause a poor connection, and reconnect making sure all are tight.

Won't start getting nothing when i turn key

Recheck all your connections, battery. starter, look for fuseable link on small wire going to starter. Might want to chk.that wire with test light when key switch is in start position and see if it lights. If it does not light might be starter switch under dash on steering colume.

Won't start lights dim and then brighten

Did you try to boost battery? Sounds like low charge. Check battery terminals for tight and clean as well as groung connection at body and power connection at starter for clean. If battery OK test for power on starter wires. Large wire will have contant battery power small wire will have battery power when key is in crank position. If power ok on both it will probably need a starter. Hope this helps...Good Luck.
