SOMEONE TOLD ME IT'S PROBABLY A RELAY SWITCH? You shouldn't listen to people that have no clue . Reading in the factory service repair manual how it works an what all is involed in the seat electrical circuit is the way to find out . Plus testing . There is no relay involved in the operation of the power seats . Does the vehicle have memory seats ? Do you know what a wiring diagram is ? Do you know how to test automotive electrical circuits with a DVOM - digital volt ohmmeter ? The wiring at the switch maybe reversed . Looking at a wiring diagram to see if the wires are in the correct spot . All it would take is to reverse the wire's for it to work correctlly .
The control module for that is 400 dollars and the switch is 110.

I just had this problem fixed with a Tech 2 tool in my '03 yukon xl denali. The seat has a control module underneath of it that controls the 2-position memory, the power seat functions, etc. It needed to be reprogrammed - about $200 at the dealership, or free if you 1) have a good relationship with your service manager, or 2) own or know someone with a Tech 2 tool.
At first I thought it was because I had a Canadian model truck (the headlight switch is stuck "on" at all times no matter what position it's in, and the rear air controls are in celcius and not farenheight).
I'm assuming the switch worked before, and you may have encountered some sort of electrical issue (like a dead battery, or you gave someone a jump, you have a bad ground, you just installed an aftermarket stereo, you used a computer tuner, etc.).
Hope this helps!

It shouldn't be possible to invert connector plug but what ever you did prior to this situtation is suspect ! Try reversing the plug wiring , It's designed to turn in both directions and will not damage the motor ie back / forward. Good Luck
