AC Compressor I have a 2003 Saturn Vue 4 cyl. manual transmission. Whenever I have the AC running there is an intermittent knocking noise. I believe the AC compressor vibrates when the knocking happens and it sounds like that is where the knocking is coming from. Does anyone know if this is my problem or what might be my next step in fixing this problem.

    Have some one ID the noise for sure, it could be the exhaust hitting something due to the extra load the AC puts on the engine.

Try having someone kill the a/c while you check for the noise. if it stops then check further into the compressor where you said you thought it was coming from. It could be the bearings in the compressor clutch going out.

Hi,
1st thing - DO NOT DRIVE as you may be low/out of fluid.

Check both your automatic transmission fluid and your engine oil level. Both should be described in the owner's manual.

When the security light comes on, it means that the Antitheft system is most likely begining to fail. It will start very intermittently amd progressively get worse until it either shuts down the car, or your car will refuse to start when that light is on. This link explains

Suspect wheel bearing. They can be quite tricky to isolate as noise carries through coach. Try driving next to a large building with window down. Should be a growling noise that increases/ decreases with speed.

it could be something more simple than that. Try replacing the speed module 1 and see if that doesn't fix the problem.
