99 cadillac deville

Overheating, reads o oil life left , thermostat good, catylatic converter not clogged, oil looks clean, not due for change. HELP< DESPERATE

  • mroscoe992 Aug 25, 2008

0% oil left is because the car ran hot. Per the manual this happens when the car runs hot and needs to be changed, (ask me how I know). I've run the mill of repairs for my overheating 1999 Cadillac and the last suggestion to me was to have the computer re-programmed by the dealer. I would appreciate a response if possible that would be a little less costly.

My 99 Cadillac deville is overheating. I've replaced radiator fan thermostat and water pump. What else could it be? My husband thinks the intake is clogged up with stop leak

Did you replace the radiator and fan or just the radiator fan? Stop leak won't clog up the intake, Holes are too big. But will clog up the radiator. Usually the heater core goes first though.

Air suspension fuse location 1999 cadillac deville

Cadillac Northstar owners to those whose vehicle is overheating .My 99 Deville was overheating turns out it was Catalytic Converter.Dont rely on PCM for code.If the Cat converter gets plugged up the heat will not get past converter it will back up into engine block causing overheating. My deville ran at between 190 & 201 degrees this morning. If you have a misfire the unburnt fuel goes into Converter and causes damage to converter (blockage).Alot of people overlook converter when overheating happens.

Does 50 percent oil life means half low or need oil change

Some vehicles have a reading that starts at 100% and Counts down to ZERO. If your gauge is telling you that you are at 50% life, then you have 1,500 to 2,500 miles left before your engine oil change. This is ONLY as good as the last time you changed your Oil and someone RESET IT...

If it was not reset, follow the Tag on your Windshield

2001 deville over heating. Changed thermostat. Once old thermostat was off it was ok. Changed anyway. Still over heating.

First, check to make sure your cooling fan is working, if not , could be fan motor , relay or temp sensor. if it is, it may be a clogged radiator?? start with these things first, they are the easest ...there are a lot more things it could be... that will be more involved (harder) to get into...Hope this helps you ?? Good Luck

Problem with overheating on 1996 Cadillac Deville with Northstar engine. The information screen read "engine overheating", "idle engine" and "change oil" all within one minute. Are these issues related...

The oil life resets to zero after the engine overheats. Check for external leaks first, make sure the water pump belt is still there and turning. The most likely cause if the car has over 70,000 miles is head gaskets.

Overheating,eveything looks ok.

I have a 97 Cadillac Deville with a northstar engine and have replaced it twice so far, so i answer this by experience...i've noticed to my two prior engines that went bad that the normal temp should NOT EXCEED 228 (normal), the red overheating light will come on at 250 and at 260 it will beep and tell you to stop engine - idle engine and will begin to smoke (overheat).

I hope this helps you and anyone else...by the way if your asking why did i replace my engine twice is simply because my cadillac is super clean inside and out, immaculate condition.
