I have a 2005 toyota Rav44 and recently put in diesel fuel for it not knowing it was the wrong fuel. My car will not start now. How do I fix this? I tried looking online for solutions but nothing explains how to fix a Toyota Rav4.

cranks or does not crank fast,??? the starter motor spins the crank shaft fast, 300rpm in fact and must first.
or it cannot be started , my Wangler 6speed ,M/T push starts and gravity starts too. but no the A/T box fitted Funcargo
1999 to 2005 not one in USA at all
one answer fails to crank, battery dead or A/T not in park or neutral.
2nd answer, cranks fast but will not start.

• spark dead.
• fueling dead or bad fuel. wrong fuel class, diesel in to petrol ?
• fueling too much flooding , crank with wide open throttle WOT.
• engine bad, cam belt slipped or snapped at 100km and did.

Petrol:
1.3 L 2NZ-FE I4 (NCP20/22)

At 2005 it probably has common rail injection that uses electric fuel injectors.

When these go wrong they can be difficult to diagnose due to the very high fuel pressures involved and the fact nothing will happen unless those pressures are achieved in an expected amount of cranking. The system also needs input from crank and cam and other sensors...
What this means is when all the usual diesel steps have been taken and found to be ineffective, it is time to call in a specialist with some specialist equipment. There isn't the time or space to fully describe "all the usual diesel steps" here.

Is it a diesel engine/ There might be air in the system. Have the fuel pipes checked for cleanliness.

How do you know there is fuel in the fuel pump? Have you had someone check it out?

Depending on the grade of fuel you used just run it down to empty and refill with correct grade, as long as you did use diesel or racing fuel youll be fine, and unless your hearing any odd noises like a pinging your fine, I also wouldnt suggest using fuel injector cleaner it doesnt really do much unless you use it reguarly

check fuel lines fron tank then fuel pump that supplies the diesel pump

Could be injector problems. is the car down on power?

Check the heater plugs normaly when the engine is cold heater plugs work to heat up combustion chamber then starts easy,also long raning fuel filter mybe so change the fuel filter.

Did you purge the fuel lines, filter and fuel pump? if not do so, it will start then I am sure

open the fuel bowl on the top of the engine where the fuel filter goes and fill the bowl with diesel fuel. this will put fuel back into the system
