A family member has a 1987 Buick Century 2.5L. Car would intermittently stall out and restart after sitting for a while. Now it won't start at all and has been in the garage for 2 weeks. They have replaced the Fuel Injector, Power Control Module, Oxygen Sensor, EGR Valve, Ignition Module, Temp. sending unit on the thermostat (?) and the Fuel Pressure Limit Switch and nothing has helped. It is letting too much gas into the engine also. Any ideas? The garage called a week ago and thought they had it fixed and said it had been running for 1/2 hour. When they shut if off and tried to restart, it would not. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My 1988 buick century stall,s after driving. engine warm,s up.won,t start right after stalling.start,s after sitting 10 or 15 minutes

Possibly an ignition module or crank sensor problem. These are the two most common stalling electronics that will cause a stall when they get warm/hot and will then continue to operate once cooled down

My 1993 buick century stalls when i stop at a light or stop sign after i restart it it backfires multiple time before i can gain speed

I have a feeling your fuel pump is on its way out...but start by changing your fuel filter first, should be under $20....ie..not enough fuel getting through..

1988 buick regal stalls and restarts stalls and restarts

Sounds like a relay or coil failing.
To proceed you would need to find out if you are loosing spark to the plugs or fuel pressure to the injectors when it won't start.

I have a 1987 Buick Century. That stalls out

I'm not Roger but can tell you this....if you have a bad crankshaft position sensor or a corrupt ECM....your car will do that.....last things could be the timing belt.

Engins starts but idles high for about 2-3 sec. then stalls out

Sounds like the choke needs to be turned down slightly and the idle turned up?

My Buick Century with a 2.5L is stalling at lights and stop signs. when restarted and put in drive it stalls and won't stay running? Any help?

The TCC solenoid in the transmission needs to be replaced. This is a common problem that requires removal of the side cover of the transmission. You can unplug the wires at the front of the transmission and drive it until you get it fixed but you will not have over- drive lock- up convertor. This will result a drop in fuel mileage,

1987 Buick Century - stalling out

I had a 1987 Century and when mine started acting like that I took it to a garage and they hooked it up to a computer tester for free. Is she getting the check engine light coming on? They found that mine was running (lean) which ended up being my fuel pump. Which is in the gas tank and can be pricey to get done, between $250-$350 and of course the filter would get done at the same time and that is only$20
