Odds are, if the code says a bad crankshaft sensor, then that's exactly what the problem is.

As to your comment about the timing belt.

Are you sure you really mean the timing belt?

It seems unlikely to me that you would have removed the timing belt cover, in order to make this determination.

I'm more inclined to believe you are talking about the accessory drive belt (AKA serpentine belt) that drives things like the alternator, AC compressor, power steering pump, etc.

This is on the outside of the engine and is plainly visible. A small amount of play isn't unusual.

cam sensor fail can be crank sensor fail engine will run with cam sensor fail but crank it will not fire. also recheck the timing belt settings you fit the timing belt and run engine till warm then recheck the belt adjustment to make sure its in line and at recommended tightness.

2004 chrysler sebring 2.4l dohc.

Have you ever replaced the timing belt?? If not the problem is likely to be a loose worn out timing belt. A floppy belt will play havoc with the sensor signals and trigger a check engine light and a camshaft sensor code.

Kia rio not starting

Timing belt should have been changed at 60,000 miles. A loose timing belt or teeth missing from synchronous belt will lose timing. Damage to valves can occur if timing is not correct.

Toyota avensis fault code p0016 and p0016 codes will clear drive 5 miles mil light comes back on replaced cam and crank sensor

Crank/cam misaligned timing can be due to a slack timing belt jumping a tooth on a cog. Check that the belt is tight and that the timing marks on belt align with the cam and crank pulley timing marks.

1995 mercury tracer 1.9l wont start after new serpentine belt

The timing belt should not have been affwcted. Sounds like you have everything chk'd and accounted for.. The best way to chk the cam and crank is a compression test.
