Door ajar light wont go off all the doors are closed the enterior lights and the running board lights wont go off what should i do my battery is going to go dead

Check the door switches, you may have one that's shorted. If they are all OK, the BCM is causing the problem. Easiest and cheapest solution is to remove the bulbs from the lights that are always on. It means they will not operate and if you don't feel safe at night without them, its not an option for you, If it doesn't bother you one way or the other, remove the bulbs. This will stop your battery from draining, but the door ajar light on the dash will stay on all the time. If it bothers you, cover it up!

• Key in ON position.
• Monitor VDM door position status PID.
• Close all doors, liftgate, liftgate glass and power running boards.
• While observing the diagnostic tool, open and close one door.
• Does the door status PID change between CLOSED and AJAR states?

When you open an close the driver door you have no PID change ,right ?

The door ajar input is an input to the Vehicle Security Module , then transmitted over the bus ! You'll have to find a diagram for the med. speed CAN data bus .

unhook your battery for 5 mins then hook it back up go to each door and open and close one at a time that way you know which door is having the problem once you find that out replace the door switch and problem fixed or just dont open that door.

For the door ajar--You can do a simple test of each door opening. Just take a small amount of masking or duct tape and make a small ball of tape. Stick this on each doorjam switch one or 2 at a time and if the lights work better you need to work on the bad jam switch. Just remember that the sequence of the engine running, shutting the engine off, then opening and closing the door must be repeated for each opening including the cargo doors. You need to duplicate the conditions for all the relays to trip to cause this problem.

The door ajar warning is what is keeping the lights on and the Battery saver in your truck is overriding the door ajar problem. I hope my solution is helpful, there are some plastic dividers in the doorjam switches and sometimes they break.

you have a bad door switch on one of the doors or liftgate. Look for push switch button where doors close on door opening. Open onedoor at a time and push button by hand and see if the lights go out. When you find the one that turns the light off, either adjust it, shim it or stick a cabinet door bumper on the soor so it psuhes the switch shut.

Find out which door is showing ajar and replace the latch or door ajar switch.

Take some WD40 and open the doors and spray a liberal amount into each of the door latches. Then open and close the doors firmly several times. This will work most of the time to unstick the ajar switches.

All courtesy lamps are controlled by the generic electronic module (GEM).
The four contacts are not switches , the part you want to replace is the door ajar switch . The door ajar switch is inside the door part of the lock actuator . Those contacts just allow circuit continuity when the door is closed , when you open the door continuity is broken or open . The GEM now know the door is open an will now turn on the dome lights . The door ajar switches stick , try spraying WD-40 into the door latch ,open an closing the latch . If this doesn't fix the problem you will need to take the inside door trim panel off and replace the ajar switch .

sounds like you have a door ajar switch bad on one of the doors. start vehicle and close all doors and liftgate make sore the back glass on liftgate is closed. now look for a door ajar alert. if the alert is thare then one of the door ajar switches is bad. if this dont help then open each door and spray a lubricant called PB BLASTER in the latch assembley on each door then open and close each door about 10 to 15 times, this will usally free up the switch that is stuck.PB BLASTER is available at your local auto parts store. soak the latches pretty good when doing this as to make sure it reaches the switch.the fuse to the running board lights is under hood behind the power distrabution box. it should have a cover on it , thare are about 6 fuses in this box the one to the running boards is a 10 amp color red just pull each red fuse till lights go out.

you may just need to adjust your door jams they may not be closing properly, the other thing you can try is opening one door at a time and putting your finger on the switch usually in the lower l/h corner of b piller and see if the light goes off if not this may be the problem and replace the switch
