I also agree that you have a problem with the ac condenser fan. Easy way to check this is to have someone turn on the ac while you watch to see if the fan comes on. You can also disconnect the fan and with two wires connect the fan directly to your battery to see if it works. what I suggest you do is to take a garden hose and spray water on the ac condenser which is in front of the radiator and see if your ac works, if there is a change and the ac works better then tour condensor is the problem.
This likely indicates the compressor is starting to go. The reason it cools better at highway speeds is that the engine is getting more air and running cooler (especially in hotter regions like Texas and Arizona). This means the compressor itself is also cooler, so it can do its job more efficiently even though it's dying.
Sounds like you have a bad A/C condensor fan (drivers side fan).........

I'm not too savvy on car mechanics, but it sounds like everything is running normally. I did buy some more coolant to put into it, but when I hooked it up it said it was full.
is the condencer fan working with the a/c on? drivers side.
can you check the system pressures?
