The Abs lightin my 2005 Pacifica fwd comes on intermittenly The brakes work fine including during a recent snow storm we just had. I took it to my local mechanic who plugged in his diagnostic scanner while the abs light was on but no trouble codes came up. Is there a real problem here? Car stops fine, light will come on and off a few times during the day. Van has 107,000 miles on it and hasnt given me too much trouble. At this point it more of a nuisance or is there actually a problem, Numerus times I've had it scanned and never a trouble code shows up. Thanks

The system has to be scanned when the ABS light is on, only then will a fault code show up to lead you in the direction of the problem.

SOURCE: 2005 Chrysler town and country abs light on, but

We own a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica (3.8 litre) and currently have the same problem. This has happened at least 2 other times on our vehicle. Our trouble code was for a faulty ABS wheel sensor, and after searching the internet I found A LOT of other Pacifica owners had the same problem. The first time this happened to us, it was covered under the Chrysler warranty. The second time, it cost about $275 to repair. This is something that only a Chrysler / Dodge dealer can diagnose and repair. At first, we went to Firestone and they preceded to replace the brake pads, rotors, flushed the master cylinder and nothing they did seemed to work. Finally, I went to the Chrysler dealer and they immediately diagnosed the problem and fixed it. I am not sure if the computer will actually report a trouble code for the ABS problem or not. I will warn you that even though the brakes seem fine, eventually they WILL fail on you and you will have SIGNIFICANTLY reduced stopping power. Our light went on while we were down the interstate at 70 mph, and let me tell you that was a very scary situation with me, wife and two kids with NO CONTROL over how fast we could stop. Take your vehicle to the dealer and get fixed, it's not worth risking an accident. Good luck!

On my 2005 Chrysler pacifica whenever I come to a stop or put my brakes on fast it shutters then the fuses blows out and i only get first gear

Which fuse(s) blow?

Likely the shudder is ABS activating which in itself shouldn't cause fuses to blow. And a blown ABS fuse shouldn't affect the transmission. So I expect more than one fuse is blowing which would imply inappropriate connection between systems (short).

What are road conditions? If clear dry pavement then ABS should not be activating unless severve extreme braking. If snow and ice, then ABS will likely activate and shudder.

Likely there are stored OBD codes which would give direction.

When you replace fuses, try leaving out the ABS fuse. You won't have ABS (pump brakes if lockup) but if the problem abates you can still get around and have it serviced at your earliest convenience.

Abs for 2001 ford excape

The ABS is controlled from the sensors at the wheels . The sensors signal when the wheel stops turning and the ABS releases the brake pressure to that wheel to allow it to turn again while maintain pressure to the other brakes. It has nothing to do with weather conditions or road conditions-- just wheels turning under brakes Under normal driving and brake applications you will not notice ABS operation as it will not be working. You will only notice the ABS assistance when you are under very heavy brakes and the sensation is a pulsing in the brake pedal under your foot. Run the fault code to check for recorded faults in the ABS or have an accredited brake shop specialist check out your concerns

2005 Chrysler Sebring Brake and ABS lights are on, car beeps when I start it

Someone will need to scan the body computer for trouble codes to proceed. The ABS system uses the regular hydraulic brakes to function.

I RECENTLY HAD A BRAKE JOB DONE ON REAR BRAKES AND NOW THE ABS AND BRAKE LITE COME ON INTERMITTENLY

Why didn't the shop take care of the issue, if they put
the problem in there, due to careless work during the
brake service or it wasn't related & needs to be diagnosed.?

You have an ABS Fault to diagnose, simple as that
Check for codes & component test
Not a computer malfunction

May want a different repair shop
I don't know what transpired there

I have a 2008 pontiac g5 abs light is on after snow storm but traction control light is not on . still stuck in driveway what should i do

If you are still stuck in the driveway, that's why the ABS light is still on. Get a snow shovel and dig the car out. Once you get the car on the road and all the wheels are turning the same speed the ABS light will most likely go off. It doesn't hurt anything to drive the car with the ABS light on. What that light is telling you is, the "Antilock Brake System" (ABS) is not working. The brakes will still work but, the antilock portion will not, so when you hit a icy patch, the wheels can lock during braking. The ABS senses the speed of all the wheels and if you have been spinning the wheel in the snow, it throws the system out of sychronization. Once you get out of the snow and you start to drive the light will go off, if the system is in working order. The light should go off in a block or two, if not stop the car shut the engine off and restart it. Try it again and see if the goes off, if not there's a problem with the system, get it to a shop.
