I am attempting to replace the exterior door handle of a 96' cutlass supreme 2-door coupe. I have removed the broken handle and replace it with the new handle. I attached the clips to the arms and secured the locking mechanism into place. My problem came when i went to shut the door and the latch at the bottom of the door did not move, cause the door to bounce back and not lock,. How would i fix this? thanks jeff

The release rod from the handle is adjustable it sounds like it not adjusted properly causing the latch to stay in release ! Also make sure the rods are installed in the correct location ! The striker could be out of adjustment - open the door and use a screw driver to manually close the latch leave the screw driver in place and pull the outside handle and see if it releases ! Also when you manually close the latch does it stay locked - if yes the striker or door may be out of adjustment !

Take your finger and rotate that little gear on the latch on the door, either back or forth and it should work then.
