Thursday it rained all day. The engine on my Mazda Tribute 4 cyl 2005 started missing. Problem got worse as the day went on. By the end of the day coming home from work I got 25mph max. I thought it must be a coil pack. After 2 days of dry weather it's the same. Now I fear the catalitic converter must be at fault. I'll have code read on tues. How hard is it to replace as a do it your self?

Even 2 days later it could still be the result of getting ignition components wet. I would suspect the ignition wires first. I'd make sure the plug tops were clean as well. Is there any sort of a distributor on the Tribute? If it has thrown a Cat code it is probably due to the misfiring. Cats do not go bad in one day unless you somehow filled up with leaded fuel! Hard to do unless you're in an airplane.

Where can i get detail engine identify where parts are 2005 mazda tribute i 4 cyl automatic fwd.

in the usa we have a VIN
the vin shows engine and trans
also all Mazda dealers here we can tell it VIN and the online page show what you have. but locations can be vague there,
your post implies a parts LOCATION HUNT IS THIS POST right:?
cars can be sold world wide with 6 or more engine, no country told.
locations of parts are in service manual sold by Mazda or here
never googled before it seems to me,
why not lead off with a problem first.
3000 to 5000 parts on a car, we can not guess, what is the topic at all
like me pay them. to see SM.

top post here is where is the CKP/CMP and 99% learn it is not bad but the cam slipped, or never scanned the PCm first.
learn to post problems and not parts hunts or better buy the real service manual or learn to get the car serviced.
cars are complex even 2005 are.

Where is the Coolant ECT Senor and my Thermostat on a 2005 Mazda Tribute . I know it's a 2.3 Liter V-6

If its a 2.3 it should be a 4 cyl. The V6 engine is a 3.0 cu in.
The thermostat should be under the housing where the upper radiator hose connects, and the sensor should be nearby.
If the thermostat is not in the upper housing check the lower radiator hose connection.

Is number 1 plug at the back and where is the coil

The number one cylinder is always in the front of the engine.
The 4 cyl engine uses one coil for all 4 cylinders.
The 6 cyl engine uses one coil on each plug.

2001 mazda tribute fuel injector diagram. #4 cylinder missing so I need to replace plug, injector(this is where I think the problem is-had the cleaned with drip procedure and got better, now worse again,...

if you have a cylinder 4 miss fire it is more likely to be the coil and not the injector. I have replaced a ton of coils on these for miss fires but don't think I've done an injector for this problem yet.
