Interior lights My interior lights flicker on when I turn to the right. I believe I have a loose wire. Where should I start to find it?

  • cyndig55 Aug 18, 2008

I wiggled all the pin switches and it had no effect on the lights but I appreciate the help. It is just the dome light and the courtesy light on the drivers side. It is not a big deal but it kind of drives me crazy.

Its your door penn switch which is in control of turning on the light, when u turn right, so start with the passenger door pin switch, then check all switches as well, replace one or all the malfunctioning swtich, wiggle or slightly touch the switch to see if the light is affected if it is replace the switch

Interior lights generally work to an earth, sounds like you have a trapped wire that's shorting to earth, start with the wiring to the door switches and work your way to the light

Everytime someone sit in the passenger seat of my GMC JIMMY, my interior lights start flickering and my radio goes out. Why is this?

I remember having a slightly older GMC Jimmy doing this every once in a while. I was young at that point, but I believe that there are a few of the interior wires that run very close under the carpet, and sitting on the seat mashes the wires to the ground, after a while, it rubs the insulation off, and allows it to short circuit back to the battery.

My interior lights flickers when I hit a bump in the road or just sitting still. What causes this?

I would replace the light switch, but first I would have a confederate
go around and jiggle all the door jamb switches while I observed the dash lights. Something is loose, often the brightness control for the dash lights is the culprit.

Flickering Headlights and Dim interior lights

Definately an electrical problem....first off, check the battery and alternator connections to make sure they are tight. The problem has to be before the fuse box because the headlights and interior lights are on different fuses. It sounds to me like a loose wire, corroded battery terminals, or an alternator that is going bad. An alternator is a relatively easy and cheap fix. They cost about $100 and require removing a few wires, 3 bolts, and the serpentine belt.
