I'm replacing the heater core in my 1994 dodge Caravan. I've ripped the dashboard apart and all the metal bracings as well as the nuts on the engine side of the firewall have been removed, but there seems to be something still holding on behind the steering wheel that I cannot get to or find. It seems that the entire dash has to be removed and the HVAC box will come out with it. If there is an easier way to remove the HVAC box without taking the entire dashboard with it, please let me know!

1994 dodge caravan 3.3 L . I replaced thermostat 195. filled rad , ran motor for 1 hour with cap off , no bubbles, put cap on , ran 10 min, temp in car low worm not hot worm.

so we can assume you removed all bubbles by bleeding and no vapor lock in engine.(i assume that you did this when in front of car is raised to collect bubble at highest point)

if done correctly there should not be any bubbles in system. so we can say that your cabin heater core is clogged partially. remove is and clean it. if it cant be done you need a new heater core. to reach it you need to remove some dash panels. dont brake clips when removing dash.

How do I get the heatercore cover off of the heatercore. Have took out all the bolts out. Can not get it loose from the firewall.

Hello jsheets4,

This is not an easy job, you must remove the dashboard to gain access to the heater core.

Below is an outline on how to do the job.

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Discharge and recoverthe A/C system refrigerant.
3. Drain engine coolant.
4. Disconnect engine compartment heater hoses, A/C lines and vacuum hoses.
5. Remove the dashboard.
6. Disconnect A/C hanger strap and reposition for access, unplug blower motor.
7. Remove rubber condensate drain tube and four mounting nuts on engine compartment side
firewall.
8. Pull plenum assembly out until the studs clear and remove from vehicle.
9. Place unit on a work bench then remove the screw at the vacuum harness then feed harness through the hole in cover.
10. Remove the thirteen screws from the top cover and remover cover.
11. Remove screw from heater co tube retaining bracket then lift heater core out of plenum.
13. Reinstall in reverse order.

1994 dodge caravan. No heat. two hoses ar e disconnected. One is from firewall. Is there a part missing.

If it is an inlet hose, there should be a valve that allows water into the heater core. Usually, when someone disconnects these particular hoses, it is because of a leaky heater core. You may have more issues after you reconnect, however in order to get heat, they will have to be connected and if your heater core then leaks, (in the passenger side floorboard), you will have to replace the heater core as well. Good Luck! I hope you find this to be very helpful!

No heat

One or more of:

1. Your coolant level is low
2. Your thermostat doesn't close and needs to be replaced
3. The valve from the cooling system to the heater core is stuck
4. Your heater core is clogged

The heat in my 1994 dodge caravan does not work. The van will heat up and then I try the heater sometimes it starts to then it fades to coolness.

Sounds like a partial plug in a heater hose or the heater core itself. There's not a full flow of water and it cools off faster than its replenished. The hot water valve may not be opening all the way either. Backflush the heater core, run water from a hose the opposite way it normally flows,Thru the core to clear it. Check hoses the same way. Also chech them for soft spots the hose may be collapsing internally. If the engine is not overheating the water pump is probably ok . if it is running a little too hot the thermostat may not be opening all the way either/ Replacing it could help too.
