There are Valet keys (often with a green knob) that will only unlock
the front doors and the ignition but not the glove box nor
boot/trunk.
When either the front door locks or the console
button is pressed, all the doors should lock. Likewise, when either front
door is unlocked, all the doors fuel filler lid and if selected, the
boot will also unlock.
Boot lock has three positions. Unlocked
to the left, automatic with the doors in the center, always locked to
the right. Simply remove the key in what ever position you desire.
The
locks can get confused and not work correctly. Simply sit in the
car and manually lock all the doors. That will usually get the
locking module sane again.
Sounds like a short in the lock switch or in one of the doors. Eliminate each one step by step by unplugging each unit one at a time and see if the problem goes away. Start with the lock button that you push to lock and unlock the doors from the inside. This switch tends to get a lot of soda and coffee spilled on it and it shorts out.
this problem seems to be connected to the door jam switch(s). does the breaker switch become hot ? If it does your problem might be the door jam switch from the passenger side. this causes other problems too. It sometimes causes the seat to not work either. Check the breaker switch for the door.replace it if it is hot.
Make sure your hood is shut. I just got my 2002 Honda Odyssey back from the dealer today (90,000 mile check-up - I love my van and will drive it until it dies!) and when I went to lock the van with my remote transmitter, the lights didn't flash and the horn didn't sound. I open and closed all the doors and tailgate and I could hear that the doors were locked, but the security system wasn't working and that is why the lights didn't blink or the horn didn't sound. I walked up to the front of the van to check the hood to make sure it was closed (there isn't an indicator light for an open hood, only open doors) and the hood wasn't shut completely. Once I opened the hood and let it drop to securely shut, I hit the door lock button on the remote and everything worked like a charm! Hope this helps others in this predicament.
