My 2001 PT Cruiser ignition switch will not turn. I have tried moving the steering wheel up and down, moving the steering wheel left to right while trying to turn the ignition on all to no avail. Help.

Grasp the steering wheel and firmly attempt to turn it back and forth while simultaneously turning your ignition key back and forth.
To prevent this from happening again, straighten your wheels before you shut off the ignition.

it has to be (by law) within 3 feet from the ignition switch-get down low and look under the steering wheel (by where the driver's knees are) they are almost universally there.

first try pulling on the steering wheel hard left or hard right while trying to turn the key.

on some cars you need to push the brake pedel down to turn the key and get your gears,,,otheres you just need to wigel the wheel to free off the stearing lock

replace ignition i know on some cars you can buy just the tumblers

no,,grab the wheel,,see if u can move it ,,left to right,,,it should move a little,,u mite have to hold it in the middle,,then try to turn ignition,,

i have changed the pressure sensor switch on my 2001 PT Cruiser (B). to find it you will have to put the car on ramps and go under the car until your under the cross member (right behind the front wheel) it will be just behind the cross member closer to the driver side wheel. remember once you remove the sensor gravity will work against you and power steering fluid will pour out of the sensor hole. and when under a car there is really no place to go and if your not careful you will have to resign yourself to being covered in fluid. good luck!

Try to pull your steering wheel hard both ways left first then right and try to turn your key at the same time.as you are pulling on the wheel

try to move the steering wheel lift and right and move the key in all the time
its look like the wheel steering lock

It's possible the tumblers have fallen in your ignition. I had a similar incident with a Focus I owned. Everything locked and I couldn't get the key to turn at all. They had to tow the car to the dealership and replace the tumblers.
