2001 mitsubishi Montero engine wants to die when I turn on my heater

Hi
I would have the alternator checked as the heater takes a lot of battery power it sounds like the alternator is struggling to run the car and the heater at the same time

I hope this helps Nick

Running rough after overheating

The idle is controlled by the computer, based off of sensor readings. Whenever I replace the battery in my Montero, the car won't idle very well because the computer has been reset and it has to 'learn' the environment. After I drive it for a day or two it runs fine. It is pretty simple to try disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes to reset your computer. Take it for a long drive afterwards so the computer re-learns the environment and see if resetting the computer fixes the bad idle. I would think the service engine light would be on if you had a sensor issue.

Hello i have 2001 Mitsubishi montoero sport to day took the battery out and now when i try to start it, it runs for a second or two then goes off

disconnect the battery again, with it disconnected press hold the brake pedal for 30 seconds, leave the battery disconnected for 30 minutes. reconnect battery, turn key from off to on and wait 2 minutes, start the vehicle (don't touch the gas or brake for 5 minutes) this is what I did on my friends montero and it started right up and ran fine, only thing I could figure is that I caused the computer to reset and recalibrate itself, but i'm not real sure. worked for him maybe it will work for you... good luck

2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport

if your car keeps cutting out is because you might have a loose connection to the battery. if your vehicle is running and it looses connection with battery it should still stay running. if it dies it means that you have a bad altenator.
