Turn signal flasher on a 1998 Lincoln Town Car

    Doesn't have a turn signal flasher , use's lighting control module .
Turn Signal and Hazard Lamps The turn signal system consists of:
    • turn signal miniature bulbs (13465).
    • turn signal indicators in the instrument cluster (10849).
    • lighting control module.
    • multi-function switch (13K359).
    • circuit wiring and circuit protection.
Power is supplied to the lighting control module through instrument panel Fuse 6 (10A). This fuse is hot in START or RUN. The lighting control module is connected to the turn signal switch portion of the multi-function switch. Ground is provided to the lighting control module and the turn signal miniature bulbs through Circuit 57 (BK).
Turn signal functions are performed by double filament bulbs in lamp assemblies located next to the headlamps. The turn/hazard function uses the second filament of the appropriate bulb(s).
    • With the multi-function switch in the right turn position, power is supplied to the RH front and rear turn signal miniature bulbs and the right turn indicator in the instrument cluster.
    • With the multi-function switch in the left turn position, power is supplied to the LH front and rear turn signal miniature bulbs and the left turn indicator in the instrument cluster.

Why does turn signal sound all the time unless the br(ake) is pressed?

Taryn, sounds like a faulty turn signal switch, or multi function switch is defective. Check all the bulbs and sockets first for damage wires, burnt wires or bulb socket, cheapest part to change besides bulbs would be the signal flasher or the signal relay if you want to go this route. Below are trouble shooting links you can read or watch.

Why do my emergency flashers work, but turn signals are intermittent on 2004 ford expedition, what could be the cause of this ?

Cause could be from a worn out multi-function switch (blinker switch)
Filaments heat and expand and decrease in size as current runs to them, basically making and breaking a circuit several times, creating an intermittent switch that supplies current to the lights. These can go out, and will need to be replaced.

My 2001 ford expedition right hand rear turn signal and brake light doesn't work but right front signal works

Multi-function switch,(Wipers turn signals cruise) , this may sound crazy, but if you can get to the screws & remove it, smack the unit on a table top 2-3 times & re-try.
Let me know what happens. This DOES work on all Ford U-Haul trucks!

I change the day running light module in my 1998 mustang and the headlights still flicker

The headlamp switch or the multi function switch(turn signal, wiper switch) is causing your problem. Find out what switch is cheaper and replace it. I've seen the headlamp switch go bad more than the multi switch.

    Directional signal only works sometime

If it is an intermittent problem, there are two likely causes. One-the multi-function switch. Two-the flasher is going bad. The first, from my experience, is the most likely, however the second is the less expensive of the two to replace. I would probably go for the multi-function switch. Make sure your brake lights are functioning normally, as your brake light wiring is connected to the multi-function switch.
